Introducing: A Prayer Circle for the Proclamation's Animals
Join Deacon Joseph Dwyer for an ongoing series of monthly prayer circles for the world's animals.

by Kris Haley, Best Friends Manager of Multifaith Outreach

As one of the faith leaders who co-authored the Religious Proclamation for Animal Compassion, Deacon Joe is launching the first in a series of online prayer circles for the world's animals, the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 23rd at 12:00 noon EST...and YOU can join him right here on the Animals & Religion Network Community!

Deacon Joe will begin the prayer circle by reviewing the five calls to action in the Religious Proclamation for Animal Compassion, calling attention to the animals who are impacted in each of those statements; then, he will offer prayers specifically for those animals. The prayer circle will continue with prayers offered for the animals requested by YOU! They can be your companion animals or any animals for whom you seek prayer support.

To participate, just click on the FORUM tab and find the FORUM entitled, "Prayer Circle for the Proclamation's Animals." You can do this in advance or you can attend the prayer circle LIVE! Either way, at a time convenient for you, just click on the REPLY arrow to add the names of those animals you wish to be included in the prayer. circle. Deacon Joe's prayer will be placed on the FORUM at 12:00 noon EST on Friday, the 23rd, and you can add your prayers by just clicking on the reply arrow, at any time between now and Friday. Eventually, we will be holding live, Prayer Circle Webinars featuring many of the faith leaders who co-authored the Proclamation. We may even be able to feature photos of YOUR companion animals!

Won't you join us Friday at noon EST, and participate in the first of many prayer circles for the world's animals? What better way to spend the day after Thanksgiving than by expressing your gratitude for the animals with whom we share the planet! And if you haven't already, add your signature to the Proclamation at http://www.bestfriends.org/signproc !

See you Friday at noon as we embrace the animals all across the earth within a Prayer Circle of Compassion!

Pray that our church leaders will have compassion in their hearts and courage to speak out for God's creatures who suffer for our appetites. I'm in a praise group (at a Franciscan church) who are having veal and chicken in champagne sauce for their celebration of Jesus' birth, the Prince of Peace. It really grieves my Spirit knowing that people of faith approve of animal cruelty. I'm not going to this dinner and was thinking of not singing "Joy to the World... let heaven and nature sing" with this 'praise group'.-- It's a little hypocritical and in Amos 6 it talks about those who eat lambs and calves out of the stall. We need a revival in the church which I don't see happening with our leadership. Jan

I will be with you all in spirit today for the paryer circle. Please pray for all animals, for especially for animals - those used and abused for human consumption. I thought about them yesterday as I prepared my veg Thanksgiving.
Also, please pray for the pig and piglets my son Tom who lives in Hawaii has rescued. He doesn't have the facilities to keep them for long - but does not want them to go to people who will slaughter them. Pray that a compassionate person or shelter will be able to take them.
Let's pray for all the good people of compassion who work for, with and on behalf of animals, for individuals and ffor groups like Best Friends who alllow us to have strength in numbers. I have to go to my daughter's Irish dancing event, but I will be with you in spirit and praying along with you @ noon.

Thank-you, Deacon Joe! We will continue to pray with our voices, our hearts, our pens, our wallets and our feet - whatever we may need to do to increase compassion for animals in our lifetime, and to leave a lasting legacy of kindness.

Yours in Spirit,
Chaplain Nancy
