Cinematography for a Cause
Help bring to an end to puppy mills by entering Best Friends video contest.

How can you not fall in love with those soft imploring eyes and cute wagging tail of that pet shop puppy? Perhaps his cute antics charm you or maybe he looks ill and you want to “save” him. Regardless of how difficult it may be, you know you must resist, as almost every purchase of a puppy from a pet store supports the puppy mill industry. Help others to gain that same understanding.

That adorable face hides the cruel truth behind his origin. While that puppy may find a loving home, in all likelihood his parents languish their entire lives in deplorable conditions, often without proper socialization, sanitation, or even adequate protection from the elements.

Uninformed, the public patronizes these pet shops, oblivious to the fact that thousands of wonderful adoptable animals need loving homes every day.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help spread the message – DO NOT PURCHASE PUPPIES FROM PET STORES.

As part of its new Puppy-Store-Free L.A. campaign, Best Friends Animal Society has launched a Puppy-Store-Free USA video contest.

Participants are asked to create a 15 or 30 second public service announcement to help to expose the reality behind pet stores that sell puppies and to promote the adoption of companion animals from shelters or rescue organizations.

Not a professional videographer? No problem anyone can enter, a good storyline can be more important than technical production. Tug at the heartstrings or use humor, but create a message that helps people understand the truth and inspires them to do the right thing.

The grand prize is a pair of VIP tickets to attend the upcoming Best Friends Animal Society Lint Roller Party in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 13, including hotel and airfare.

Use your creativity and become a part of the growing movement to help to spread the word that Puppies Aren’t Products.

HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE:

1. Read the contest rules.

2. Start filming today. When you have completed your entry, upload the finished product to the Puppy-Store-Free USA group on YouTube and submit the online form.

3. Hurry, the deadline to enter is Tuesday, September 30.

I would like to know what happens to the puppies, dogs cats, kittens and any other mills that are not placed in homes. Do they just sit around? Somebody has to rescue the animals already in existence and the ones to still come. They have to be rescued and placed somewhere. Please help all the animals in this category as well as any others. Act fast! So many animals need help.
