Stop Puppy Mills—Adopt a Shelter Pet!
Best Friends to host a New York adoption event on Nov. 10th

On November 10th, Best Friends will be hosting an event in celebration of rescue groups and shelters who work hard to place pets in loving homes. The public is invited to come out to meet rescued dogs—from Bassett Hounds to Rottweilers and everything in between!
After Best Friends rescued nearly 200 dogs from a
commercial breeder in Virginia, we received over 1,000 applications from hopeful adopters. With so many interested people, and lots of pets looking for homes, we decided to “connect the dots” to do our part to put as many great pets in homes as possible. The best part? Every animal adopted is an animal not purchased from a pet store, over the Internet or through the newspaper.
In fact, shelters are full of pets who were bred for sale in stores, online or through newspaper ads. It’s estimated that 20% of animals in shelters are purebreds. Here’s a chance to pick up that slack left by irresponsible breeders—adopting shelter pets instead of buying is the very best way to stop puppy mills!
All pets at the event are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and come with a lifetime supply of love. A list of attending rescue groups will be ready shortly—stay tuned...
