Trixie went back to the vet this week to check on the progress of her kidney problem. Even though she rejected the presciption diet and has been back on her regular food for over two weeks, the tests show that her BUN and Creatinine levels are normal. Needless to say, this is very good news. She still gets fluids, but every other day now rather than every day. She'll be tested again next month. All of us are hoping for equally good results then.

Thanks for the update.
Prayers for continued good news!!
i'm so glad to hear that, Marion. I'm sure Perkey is too. I hope that this can continue for as long as possible. Things like this just go to show us how little matters are out of our control (and that of the experts and professionals !). This is a good demonstration of that. Good to stock up on and treasure.

Sounds like Trixi knows best, at least in the cuisine department. Glad she's rallying. Hugs to both Perkey and Trixi.

Oh, we like the good Trixi news!
Dearest Ribs,
Wonderful to hear some good news. I'm sure Perky is a bit relieved by it. More prayers on their way.
Much love, many prayers and infinite Hope,
Jabi
Thanks, everyone. We're all pretty happy too. I know that kidney disease doesn't just go away, but I'm hoping that all of us will have a lot more bonus time with our sweet little niece. She and Sierra are so good together, two girls trying to be nice to the lone boy, :-)
Hugs,
Marion
What wonderful news, Ribs!!! I'm so glad for you all. I've updated Trixi and prayers continue for this improvement to last a long time.
When Fluffy was first diagnosed with renal insufficiency, Dr. Stretch gave me a recipe to make her special food, which I did, of course. But Fluff decided I could have saved time, energy and money, because she was not eating it, no how, no way thank you, . Twice a day I put it down for her.... and twice a day she pushed her dish under the cupboard and tried to appropriate Tabby's dish. She was losing weight and Dr. Stretch agreed with me that it was better she eat something than hide her special food. :) Trixi's preference for her "normal" food brings back memories (and smiles, now).
Tell Perkey and Trixi that I say "Hurrah!!!, okay?
Huggles and continuing prayers

Great news for all, Ribs! I know all of you are thrilled with it.
May Trixi's next visit show more improvement.
Praying for that In TX.

Trixi came over yesterday, with her mom/chauffer, of course. She seemed to enjoy the visit, especially the lunch part, and managed to take a brief nap in each of the 7 dog-sized beds upstairs and the really big doggie bed in the bedroom. She was in great spirits so, naturally, all three of the humans were happy too.
I'm praying that this wonderful bonus time will continue for a good long time. None of us are ready to let go of our sparkly girl yet.
