Scotty finds a home too!
Big heart, and now a big space to run and play!
By: Barbara WilliamsonArt and Pat Purdy of West Park, New York, were grieving the death of their dog who had passed away in September.
“A couple of months ago, we decided to go online and look for another dog to adopt. We found the picture of Scotty. So we filed an application but never heard anything. Last week we got the call from Amy Wagner (Best Friends staffer) and decided to drive up on Saturday.
“It was really strange. When we drove up, I had this instant vision of a new facility. I guess the Lord gave it to me and I thought: they should call this Noah’s Ark Extended or Noah’s Ark, New Beginnings.
“When we got to Pets Alive, my husband took one look at Scotty and said, ‘I have a good feeling about this dog. He fell in love instantly.”
It didn’t take too long before Pat was head over heels in love too.
“He’s a great dog. He’s very friendly. He’s trying to get used to our big house after living in that little kennel. He’s a real clown. We are taking him for 2-3 walks each day, he needs that.”
Scotty does have a couple of broken teeth, so he will be going back on Friday to the sanctuary for dental care and then back home.
And for the Purdys there was also a “meant to be” element to Scotty’s adoption. “Saturday was my husband’s birthday and that’s the day Scotty became part of our family.”
