Here come the accommodations
Big buzz is - priefert's a-comin!

Priefert is the most durable temporary housing available for quick easy setup to house dogs safely. It's all arriving in a big truck from Best Friends. Noble, the horse, has given up his pasture for a very good cause (hmmm.....sounds familiar... the horses at Best Friends had to give up one of their pastures when we put the same fences up for the Middle East rescue!).

The Pets Alive staff here is awesome, they have really been pulling the train. Before we got here, there were 4, count them, just 4 animal caregivers for 600 animals, which makes for a very long day, 7 days a week! Sometimes they were getting their sisters or wives and mothers to come in and help with the cats but mostly it is Juan, Miguel, Marcos and Marcos. They have now taken to wearing their leashes over their shoulders just like Michelle and Pat, their heroes! Michelle and Pat have been able to impart so much training and skill to these two guys and they are hungry to learn.

Jason P got their tractor running so now they don't have to wheelbarrow all over the sanctuary. We have also put an ad in the paper and have received a wonderful response. We hired an adoption coordinator and a volunteer coordinator who are currently being trained in the Best Friends Way. Tiffani Hill and Amy Wagner are so busy and the great ideas keep flowing. We had two really great volunteers and two adoptions today!

On the medical front - Amy Schaefer is waiting patiently for her turn. She has Dr. Tara, Sarah Kubaki and Bobby Foster coming to help train the new veterinary technical staff. Amy has been sole medical support for the past three weeks, just a little overwhelming. Karen Lieberman has an admin person to train and well and she will have to teach her the secret of making me hand over those receipts!

Thanks to all who have helped and sacrificed for this worthwhile cause. Yes, there are many situations out there that are similar to this one however this is truly a dream of no kill for the entire state of New York which of course is the dream we all live every day.

How awesome is that?

The dogs look happy in their new enclosures. Too bad Sara didn't receive over 30 million dollars a year in contributions, as Best Friends does. If she had, she too could have bought similar enclosures for the dogs.

Pets Alive operated on a miniscule fraction of the Best Friends Budget, and did not have 8 zillion wonderful volunteers- There were some wonderful ones- Just not 8 zillion~! It must be nice to look at this from such a level of superiority.

Confused, BF is doing a wonderful job revitalizing Pets Alive. Perhaps you should get away from your keyboard and do something constructive with your time, like volunteering to help these animals, instead of bashing those already helping.

Seems to me it wasn't too long ago that Best Friends was just a group of hippies living in trailers in southern Utah, which is really desolate, with very little money. They really deserve high marks for making Best Friends what it is today, through hard work, working smarter and hope.
