Having joined the staff of the Parrot Garden at Best Friends in late 2008, I am one of the newest staff members.
Prior to coming here, my experience with parrots brought me to another sanctuary where I worked for 2 ½ years. Although the sanctuary was one of the largest in the country as far as the number of birds was concerned, the appeal of Best Friends was too much to pass up. After a job opened for both my wife and I, we moved up to Kanab to begin our lives here.
My expertise hasn’t always been in parrots, however. I started by volunteering for about 2 years in the Wildlife Rehabilitation field. When I began spending more and more of my spare time doing that then anything else, I decided a change of career was needed.
Well before I started to work with animals, I spent several years working in the I.T. field. Before that, I graduated from college with a Business degree that’s worth about as much as the paper it’s printed on. This is the part of my life that gets rather dull, so I’ll spare you all the details and just say, it’s a pleasure to be here at Best Friends.
