The HiJinx Report 3: Poodle, duster, baby noise
As I have always said, Jinx has an attraction to Mary, so when we changed desks I was, being a "larger" person, more in Jinx's face. He quickly settled down, but not without hissing and growling just a bit to let us know we had upset his daily routine.

This morning I brought in a new, thicker bed, which I will introduce later in the day. I also brought some pheromone spray, which I will use on his new bed and some Rescue Remedy for his water. It certainly sounds relaxing to me.

My little poodle Beignet was jealous that I was cooing at Jinx, so she insisted on being on my lap, less than two feet away from Jinx. Did it bother our little boy? Not in the least. Jinx seems to be more frightened of other cats than of little dogs. I suppose, when you don't have a nose, you're not sure how other animals will react.

Jinx has stretched out, released a loud sigh and has assumed his sleeping position, having finished a lovely breakfast. In fact, he just made a "baby noise," and stretched out even more.

Hallelujah! This is a new sound for Jinx! Who knows, some day he may feel comfortable enough to meow (we've never heard one) or even purrrrr. Now that would be a day to celebrate.

In the meantime, I have brought his favorite feather duster (for cleaning blinds) into the office. Jinx likes the way it feels and enjoys a full head-to-tail "dusting" - often with my hand behind the feathers. He closes his eyes and puts his head down, tucking his feet underneath his body, content that I mean no harm. And heck - it may just feel good!

Do you think you have the right stuff to provide our hero cat with the home he deserves? Can you see past the bluff and swagger to see that he's a very scared boy looking for safety, security and love? Can you see the inner kitten in Jinx?

Shell, I have all the faith in the world in your special cat powers!! Since the day you petted Jinx for the first time, it was a done deal... He's your guy!

Heck, he already is fine with Beignet so it's just a matter of time before he goes home with you :o)

Keep the HiJinx reports coming!!! I love to hear that Jinxy is hanging out with you, Shelley! I have no doubt that he is learning to "help" you as much as possible...

Shelley, it sounds like Jinx is at the spa! I swear, the Best Friends office cats have it better than most cats with homes!

Shelly, it's just a matter of time before Jinx is helping you type the progress reports. What you do (and what everyone else at BF does) with animals is amazing. Keep up the good work!
I look forward to the next HiJinx report.
