Angel's Rest Memorial for Cover Girl: 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13
A favorite memory: Cover Girl recovered, plump, healthy and sassy.

Reminder: Everyone invited to celebration of Cover Girl's life and legacy at Angel's Rest at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13.

If you cannot attend in person, honor her and all of the cats of The Great Kitty Rescue at that time in your special way.

For those of you who will be able to join us, please take a moment to email barbara@bestfriends.org.

COVER GIRL'S LEGACY

Cover Girl’s mission
in both life and death
was to draw
attention and notice to
animal abuse and hoarding.

She was the face of Best Friends Animal Society’s
Great Kitty Rescue 2007.

One of almost 800 cats
sick, starving, neglected in the Nevada desert,
Cover Girl’s image
inspired people to save these orphans.

If her life story saves one animal from the clutches of abuse,
then her legacy of hope
will prevail.

Christina e-mailed me and she is thinking of doing a blog - it won't be live but she will post pics and a brief commentary as quickly as she can.

I think all of us that are physically present will feel all of you and your embraces on this day. I think Cover Girl will have an incredible send off b/c people from all over the world will be wrapping her in their love.
She is no more important than any other cat from the GKR - she just happens to be its face- so for all the little souls that have passed, we will be sending prayers and meditative thoughts to them on Sat.
God Speed Angels.

My sister (Steph) and I will be there is spirit also...

We honor Cover Girl and all the other's who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge by tirelessly loving and caring for the Pahrump kitties living in our homes (Duchess, Rollie, Ninja, and Harley) and all the others who now call Minnesota home...

She is and always will be the face of the GKR and we will never lose sight of what she and the others have taught us. Rest easy little Warrior Princess...

Love and prayers to you too, Sheila. You are an amazing woman.

Love, Shari and Steph

I too will pause a moment to join everyone in spirit and in thanksgiving for what Cover Girl has done for all shelter and feral cats and for what her caregivers and rescuers have done.

I will be there in spirit, along with my furry family. To all animal rescue angels, thank you for sharing your hearts, your hands, your wallets, yourselves with lost, abused, neglected animals. To Cover Girl, be at peace, little girl, happy and at play in the fields of the Lord. See you soon.

Although I was not able to get there today I am here with you at 11:00 a.m. now and will always remember you beautiful Cover Girl, remember your spirit, remember that you beat the odds and did not let FLOCK take your life and remember the loving home you had and the love that thousands of people have bestowed upon you from close and far away in their thoughts, I am telling your brother Smudge (for all the hundreds of kitties at Pahrump were your brothers and sisters) that his sister is gone and how much impact she had on everyone's lives and how fortunate I am that Smudge has let me into his life as I know the suffering these cats had to endure and Cover Girl endured inspite of what FLOCK did and now beautiful baby you are with your brothers and sisters at the Rainbows Bridge and you are no longer sick, but healthy, and you will one day be reunited with your mommy and daddy and all those that loved you from near and afar. May you rest in peace.

The service was beautiful filled with laughter and tears. The weather was beautiful and the birds were signing the praises of Cover Girl and all the victims of Pahrump. I know they plan on doing a story about it, but I wanted everyone who couldnt physically be there to know that we all felt your spirits with us as we tucked Cover Girl in

Words come hard to express my feelings of the last few days. Beautiful, caring, loving, compassionate, are just a few.
I am ready to move north.
I will write about it soon. Catching up at my zoo.

I'm sure it was a beautiful service, I was there in spirit too. It was a travel day for me and I looked at my watch at exactly the time of the memorial-I thought about all of you, especially CoverGirl. I will never forget her-looking forward to the story.........

We have a picture of Cover girl on our refrigerator and this reminds us every day of what she still stands for. I don't know why it hit me this morning but as I was feeding our kitties I thought I should write a line or 2 and remember the good work that continues in the Great Kitty Rescue. Thanks everyone.

It seems like just yesterday we lost CG... and so many since then. Thanks for bringing this back to the front of our minds. I will never forget holding CG's ashes and giving her a big kiss goodbye.
