Cover Girl and her publicist
So this black-and-white girl teaches us once again it is not a black-and-white world of feral cats OR housecats. Beloved and cherished at ShadowCats this supposedly fierce feral continues to come all the way home into housecat status.
Here's the latest "you gotta see it to believe it" video from
Cover Girl and her publicist. And here's what Sheila wrote to go along with the video:
"Wondering about Cover Girl? Well, not to worry! She’s living the cush life here in Texas !
"This one time fierce Warrior Princess, unrepentant and distinctly independent even in the face of her own imminent demise just a short year ago is now, well how can I say this…..Uhm… She’s a cupcake now…
"Yes, the once fragile and barely able to stand Cover Girl is now topping out at over eight hefty pounds and this girl is solid- well all except her tummy, which has a definite rhythm to the swing.
"She’s not a lap cat and she is still strongly independent but this baby has decided it’s a good life after all. She gets all the food she wants and all the attention she wants (or doesn’t!). She has her own wait staff – Me!-that caters to her every whim. I figure any kitty that has been through what she has been through deserves whatever and however she wants it.
"Most of the time, she snoozes or watches the activity around her. She enjoys looking out the window but wants no part of going outside. She is much happier being snuggled down in the comforters or up on the back of the sofa.
"Occasionally she enjoys the little wand toys Jennifer brings or she and Callie will play. She seems a little sad since her guy Frogger, has been in the other room being watched and treated. I think she will be happy when he gets to come back in- maybe in a week or so.
"All in all, this is a different cat. Oh yes, she still has significant health concerns and she is still somewhat fragile in the sense that you never know what day her leukemia is going to rear its’ ugly head, but overall she is doing great! She seems to enjoy each day and to love her life.
"Many think Cover Girl is lucky we have taken her and her friends in, but truth be known, we are the lucky ones.
"Every day they remind me how fragile and precious life is and to enjoy and savor each day. What a gift! We are so fortunate to have Cover Girl, Frogger, Marmalade, Scorpio, Neville, Bella, QTip, Polly Purebred, Vienna, King Kong, Diamond, Tabitha, Callie, Leonard and Fresca here with us! Sugar and Phantom (formerly Salty Two) passed this year but only after having had a chance to feel safe, loved and know what a full tummy felt like. They have just gone ahead.
"Thank you to everyone at Best Friends and all the volunteers that played a part in this Rescue and helped to bring Cover Girl and Friends to Shadow Cats! They all send their love!"
