Caught on camera: Feline Finishing School starz!
Bubbles picutred above reminded us that many volunteers have asked to see the video of the kitties their buddies Corinne and Bob from San Diego who are frequent volunteers at Miss Sherry's Finishing School for Felines.

Of course, Bubbles is also hoping that someone will look at her and say, "Oh my goodness! She doesn't have a home yet? I knew there was a big hole in my life. Where do I find that adoption application online so I can apply to bring Bubbles into my home?"

Well, we aim to please, so enjoy seeing some of your favorite cats go through their classes and know that several of the "stars" are still looking for their forever families. Help us get them all the way home.

And if you would like to join the "Yurtians" (our nickname for people devoting time to the kitties in the Rescue Village yurts) who are helping shy and undersocialized cats blossom into their real personalities, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Kalene Craddock at 435-644-2001, ext. 4119 or email volunteers@bestfriends.org.

If you need help with directions to the finishing school at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, please contact Barbara Williamson.

Great video! Great program! I hope each one of these beautiful cats finds a loving forever home.

The correct email for the volunteer program is: volunteers@bestfriends.org. Without the "s", any email you send will got to a cyber dead-end and you will wonder why no one has gotten back to you!

Great video, gang!

Great video! My little Gracie Mae (Tazo) is a graduate of the finiishing school. She was SO shy when I first brought her home, and now she claims her spot on the bed with my other cats every morning and every night Terri and CC -- you are the BEST!

Makes me wish I was there to visit with all of them (cats and people alike). Was hoping for some vintage footage of Hugo or Joker giving Bob a hard time, but that must be on the virtual (HD, no less!) cutting room floor... Well done, everybody!

When I sent in my volunteer schedule request I asked to do a 1/2 day with these cats and when they sent my confirmed schedule back, they just had me listed with cats. Do I need to ask to go to this area when I arrive?

Michelle - when I was there in May, they had you sign in at Cat Headquarters just like you would for any volunteer shift and put on the sign up sheet that you were heading for the yurts. It's not too inconvenient as the yurts aren't all that far from Cat World.

PS - Bubbles' face is absolutely mesmerizing!

Tanks Carrie for the catch on the volunteer email

And yes, Bogiedew, be very clear with the volunteer staff and cat staff that you are volunteering in the Feline Finishing School yurts at Rescue Village.

BTW we have cats in formal class but there are also cats in the 3 other yurts who need you to come in, sit down heavily armed with baby food and offer them goodies for allowing gentle pets.

The cats in Cat World aka TLC Cat Club aka Kittyville also welcome volunteers.

Another question..I love to sit and socialize...I do that one day a week at the shelter where I volunteer..but my husband is not real big on just sitting and socializing. Is there any kind of cleaning or "man things" he can do..if not, then he can just drop me off.

Never fear . . . the kitties there need just as much cleaning up after as all the others! ; )

You bet, Bogiedew, just let Terri or Kris now your husband needs "man things" to keep him occupied and they'll find things for him to do. There's usually some guy stuff type repairs or heavy lifting needed.

And certainly there are the other animal care areas as well...so if he'd rather sling hay bales for the horses or take really big dogs on walks, I'm sure the volunteer staff can help him find what he wants.

Thanks Barbara. As long as they keep him busy doing something he will be fine. Last year when we volunteered at the Pussycat Lounge he washed about 30 litterboxes!
We will be busy in all of those other areas the rest of the week. We signed up for all areas!

At the risk of protesting too much, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that socializing cats IS very much a "man thing" to do. Sticking your arm into a cage like that — it's enough to make Marlin Perkins wet his safari pants! Back me up on this one, Bob.

Bob? Hello? Bob?

well, I wasnt really saying socializing with cats isnt a "man thing"..because I know a lot of men that do! But, my husband just isnt one to sit still for long and pet and play..he likes to keep moving. I am sure he will for a bit, but not for 4 hours! He would be much happier scrubbing litterboxes!
