This just in: Milkmouth adopted; Handsome Devil still victim of bad press
Our star Milkmouth now a San Diego beach bunny, her loyal assistant, Corinne, reported and great new photos courtesy Mark Morgan of the Best Friends cat adoption team are coming soon.

But Handsome Devil,

our debonair FIV+ boy did not get adopted. Seems there is still a lot of bad hype surrounding FIV, otherwise, how do you explain such a dashing cat getting overlooked?

In the meantime, Milkmouth's family has started a blog Would you like a little surf with your sand? Milkmouth has a coastal home and here is Corinne's first-hand account of the happy ending

"Of course we want Miss Milkmouth's happy adoption story and I know there are lots of fans out there who would love to hear it. Last adoption of the day - last but never least. . . our beautiful Miss Milk Mouth!

"Milkmouth was adopted by the most wonderful young couple. They just fell in love with her. By the way, Milk Mouth's new parents are Jennifer and Victor.

"Cheers went up by all when they chose Milkmouth and they came to see just how important Miss Milk Mouth is and what a special adoption this was.

"She was just so regal when I put the collar on her - she knew that she was the chosen one at that moment and looked quite content.

"And she did us all proud - when we took her out of the cage for her photo op, she was a little hesitant at first, but then settled down in Jennifer's lap with proud new daddy Victor looking on.

"They have 3 cats - an older cat who allows the others to live with her (you know the type); and a brother and a sister. The sister is a little bit of a princess and the boy they say is just like Milkmouth in temperament. They also have a docile medium sized dog who likes the other cats.

"They asked a lot of questions, as did we and we all believe it will be a great fit.

"Bob went with them for the home check and he said it is obvious how much they love their fur people.

"We are sad to see her go (yeah for visitation rights!), but know what a wonderful new family she has.

Corinne

Milkmouth's finishing school friend Lexy as the first adopted. Also adopted were Kramer, Francesca, Boston and Roxy went home together and Toulouse went home with Great Kitty Rescue super volunteers Gail and Roy Takahata.

Dogs adopted were Norm, Gypsy and Quasar.

Oops - reporter error: Jennifer and Victor have four cats, not three. All the more for Milk Mouth to love!

Yay Milkmouth! And yay for little Lexy! Ever since my last minute decision to adopt Ember instead of Lexy (heavy lobbying on the parts of Sherry and McKenzie), I have followed this little girl and hoped she'd soon find her own home. And now, because of all of your efforts, she's prepared to settle right in. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the work this event took.

So . . . do Milk Mouth's new parents know of her recent powder room escapade or did you spare her the embarrassment. ; )

What a happy ending for these two wonderful (oops, the others as well of course) kitties. I hope their new families keep us informed of futre escapages.

Oh, I think someone spilled the beans about Milk Mouth's restroom incident (read their blog.) : )

Her new parents hinted at the misadventure. I don't know about it though. Was it posted somewhere?

Here you go, Judy!

People kept bringing up the "toilet misadventure", but I was there to tell more flattering stories of the lovely, full figured Miss Milk Mouth. I made sure her dignity stayed intact. . .and I will continue to do so ;-)

Considering the heavy burden that black cats already bear, is it possible that giving Handsome a name with the word "Devil" in it was perhaps not the best way to go?

Oh Corinne,

But you weren't there and I was and just like any embarrassing story from high school, it will follow her forever =)

We love you Milkmouth and are so very happy for you!

Poor Handsome Devil =(

We need to stop the stereotype of FIV... it is NOT that big of a deal AT ALL.

The chances of an altered cat spreading it are slim to none EVEN if they are play-biters.

We have to be the ones to start. We need to welcome these cats into our own homes -- if WE don't, how do we expect the general public to do so?

Me first.

Welcome home, Colbert (15 years old, FIV+, Diabetic) -- Coming to me at the end of the month from a hearding situation near me. He is named after my Bob -- MY Pahrump kitty who crossed on Saturday.

Your turn.

Where I volunteer we have had quite a few FIV+ kitties..and they get adopted pretty quickly and all their new families love them to death.
One lady adopted one beautiful little girl and when someone called her for her follow-up, she said she would not trade her in for a million dollars.

Savannah, I couldn't agree more and your plea sounds just like mine for the Pahrump kitties . . . that all of us who could make the stretch to add "just one more" needed to do so if ALL of the Pahrump kitties are to find the homes they so deserve. I already had integrated an FIV+ sweetheart into my cat family so I went for super shy instead. Just think, though . . . someone could do both with one kitty if they just adopted a deserving kitty like Handsome Devil, Loverboy (did you hear about HIS wonderful new home?) or any other FIV+ Pahrump cat.

Go For It! You won't be sorry!

Congratulations to you and Colbert, Savannah! If you think he'd like a brother with whom to "commiserate", I have two darling FIV+ diabetic kitties in my foster room who would fit seamlessly into any family. ; )

Reading these posts is always an emotional rollercoaster for me...

One bright spot--albeit an unintentional one--comes from Magnolia Princess and her reference to a "hearding situation" near here. I'm sure she meant "hoarding"--nothing to make light of, god knows! But the image that popped into my head of a cat being rescued from somebody who was HERDING CATS put a smile on my face...
