Jinx needs a change of luck
Do you like a cat with an edge? Never mind the bucket on his head. Picture this cat strutting down the street in a black leather jacket, smoothing his whiskers with his paw, and snarling at anyone who dares look at him.

Jinx has the street cat attitude down cold. But he just can’t live that outdoor life anymore.

What incredibly rotten luck this boy with the fair pink nose had! He was baking in the harsh Nevada desert sun at the Pahrump compound, out in the bushes with the rest of the terrified cats.

Jinx developed a skin cancer. The skin cancer had to be removed and unfortunately, so did most of what was Jinx’s nose. The veterinarians believe they got all of the skin cancer and there is no sign of it anywhere else in Jinx’s body.

“He definitely wants everyone to believe he is a tough guy,” team leader Sherry Woodard said. “Right now he’s on antibiotics because he had a dental and so we have to net him twice a day. That’s the only time I can pet him.”

This is a cat who needs a family that will keep him indoors for the rest of his life. Jinx needs a family willing to let him just be, and admire his good looks from a distance.

Jinx gets along fine with other cats and would probably be happy hanging out with cats in a house…and keeping an eye on people.

Now, we can’t say for sure he will never buckle and start coming around for pets. We just can’t promise that he will ever be any friendlier than he is right now.

“We do our best to make this place comfortable, but it is definitely not homey. The facility in Pahrump is far from an ideal situation and it may well be that when Jinx is in a home setting, he may be a different guy,” Sherry said.

So we are looking for folks who can appreciate a guy with an attitude and are willing to play by Jinx’s rules.

We love you, Jinx, and we love your attitude. Come on folks, I'm betting on this kittie being a marshmallow inside. Please let us know if Jinx needs anything to help his current stay be more comfortable. I can be contacted on the network - Engled974.

Awwww....poor baby. I have several cats who are like that. Sabrina, Wolfie, and Squeaker. I've "only" had them for TEN YEARS and they still won't let me touch them ... well, once in a great while I get a quick "pet" in there. You'd think they'd get the idea from watching the OTHER cats that we people are o.k, but .... you have to accept them AS IS. I love the anti-social ones too! Elaine

i'm tellin ya, even adult ferals you never know what they're capable of until you (consistently and patiently) try. i say b/c of my own, who at first thought i was the devil, and now loves to be picked up & carried around and smooched. really! (hey if SPOT can get mushy, anything's possible, right?)

My black & white, Freddie, was a feral who lived nearby & let us feed him. He was a good mouser, but had tapeworm, so he was always hungry. One day he blessed us with deciding to come and live with us & our 2 girl kitties. It has been 4+ years, but every day, we get a little closer. He hates to admit it, but he loves pets and kisses. He just has to be in the right mood for it is all. So, he runs the show & we get lucky sometimes. Maybe Jinx will let someone near to his heart with time & the right person. Sending love and prayers for lots of luck.
