Niki our beloved beagle of eight years died a couple of weeks ago of cancer....We were so depressed over her death that we were undecided on another pet due to out ages....and fear of another heartbreak... we also lost our other beagle Lucky nine months ago after 18 years...We had to finally make a decision to put her down....She was deaf and going blind...and we still have mittens our 15 year old cat who is still going strong....So the wife and I over a few dinner table discussions decided to look into adopting a rescue dog from the local human society in the memory of our two lovely beagles....So I found an adoption beagle/spaniel mix with the same markings as my beagles....She had lucky's body markings and Niki's face which was really amazing to find a dog with so much resemblance...Her name is Shannon which I call her CowGirl because she has the black and white markings of a cows body....Anyway we went and picked her up and bought her home and after two days she is starting to adapt to her new home and the cat is starting to warm up to her...And we are feeling so much better knowing we saved her and gave her a new beginning to a new life in a loving home....And we know that Niki and lucky are somewhere together again and both happy as they were when they were together with us.
God Bless both of our little girls

This is a beautiful story that brought tears to my eyes. Not only did you save Cowgirl, but another dog that could have been put down that week was saved because there was room for him at the shelter. Thank you for doing your part in giving a shelter dog a chance. It truly was fate.

You'll see a lot on this network "Rescues are the Best!" And that is very true.

Only in this instance it appears that not only did Cowgirl get rescued, she is helping to rescue your heart. Animals do that by offering their unconditional love, and Cowgirl was very lucky the day you found her.

Bless you for adopting her, and for providing such a loving home to Lucky and Niki. They are looking down at you with pride and love!!

Thank you for adopting a rescue dog that needs a home. I would always recommend rescuing animals from shelters or breed rescues so all animal owners can give them a second chance.
