I can't express the feelings I get seeing her pictures... it's as if you've rejuvenated her! How wonderful, sweet and precious she is. Thank you so much for keeping us updated on her. It is almost overwhelming to know how how much more love she gets on a daily basis since leaving her previous life and entering BF, then being adopted by you.

Thank you for giving her such a great life....

We are trying to sell our house to downsize and our realtor suggested getting rid of some of the dog toys. Are there any dogs who wouldn't mind "hand-me-down" toys-both large and small?

As promised, here are pictures of Meera (ne: Sindy) from today's agility class. As you can see, there is a completely new side to this gal! We've all seen that soulful expression with those big sad eyes, but how about this type of intensity!

But, she remains a real "Love Sponge", and I think this(see below) is her favorite part of Agility Class-- the loving afterwards:

The action shots of Meera were taken by my friend who took me to BF for my birthday in May. I grew up with Labs, so I automatically wanted Sindy for the sleepover. In June, I came back with my kids, and found out that she could deal with pre-teens constantly being all over her. Then, after getting the house ready for her, I drove back to Kanab in August to pick her up!

I got great news during her annual vet exam this week! Last month, I had to take her in for impacted/infected anal glands. At that time, they estimated her age as 10 years old, which had me upset. This week, the other (and more trustworthy) vet thought she was closer to 7 years old. She is in terrific shape. Although BF was concerned about her hips, she runs a strenuous 3 mile cross-country course with me about once a week, jogs a flat course for 2 miles once a week, does a weekly agility course, and ends up walking at least 3/4 mile everyday!

She is wonderful!

I think it means larger than a breadbox but smaller than a Volkswagon. :-) Or in practical terms, probably larger than your typical large stuffed dog toy. Maybe you can find something that doesn't have a lot of bits and pieces that can come off easily, like button eyes and nose. I'm sure Ogy will adore whatever you send.

I think I can handle finding Ogy a giant stuffed toy or two :) Exactly how giant are we talking here??

I'll look around during Thanksgiving break while I'm putting together my holiday package for the Lodge dogs!

Spuds goes to the Development Office twice a week. The folks there told me, "Spuds is a perfect gentlemen in the office. He loves his bed, and he loves affection. We adore him!"

Thanks Heidi - Geoff and I were so disappointed to see the red collar when we were there a few weeks ago. Geoff has walked him in the past and says he's a big boy and gets very excited when he knows you're there to see/walk him. We had him at the doggie park over the summer when we visited and he was soooo good....settled in and enjoyed his time off leash with us. We hope his re-evaluation will bring with it his purple collar back.

Since Spuds lives right across from Orlando, I get to see him a lot and I have made it a point to take him on a walks whenever Orlando gets to go out with me. Poor Spuds gets so dissappointed when he sees me coming and he isn't the lucky one. He so loves people and it is unfortunate that he now has a red collar. I understand why, because even I have a lot of trouble getting him to settle when I try to hook him up. He doesn't mean any harm but he is so big and strong, it doen't take much to get knocked down or get your clothes ripped. We try to get him to spend time with us at the Fitness Center as often as we can and he is the perfect gentlemen. He settles very nicely and is a joy to have. All he wants is someone to love. Hopefully sometime in the future he can get reevaluated so that volunteers can take him on walks, but until then I will take him out as often as I can and I know he has other staff people who take him out a lot.

Well, since not very many people post on this boys page, it's time for me to do it again. Orlando and I have been going on several outings these past few weeks. I discovered a trail that leads across the creek to a beautiful canyon with very little traffic. It takes us about 40 minutes round trip and is perfect for our outings. I sometimes have cancellations at the Fitness Center and I take advantage of the time to spend with my favorite boy. I still am a little surprised that he doesn't get much attention from volunteers. Maybe it is because he is black and black dogs just don't get the attention they so deserve in a shelter environment. I promise any of you dedicated visitors that you will not be sorry if you take this boy on an outing or sleepover. He is so sweet and enjoys the attention so much. He alsways sees me coming and his wiggle butt won't stop until he gets in my car. The other nice thing about Orlando is that he is always happy to return to his run. No moping for this boy. It was a beautiful day today and Orlando and I had a great hike.

"It's us Santa, the Lodge doggies. We've been really good this year.................well most of us. Anyway, we worked on our social skills, playing nice with the other dogs and all the great volunteers. We try not to pull too hard on our walks or jump up when we're saying "hi",but sometimes we are soooo happy we just can help ourselves. The "sit" thing is pretty easy, "down" and "stay" not so much, but we promise we'll keep trying. I know a bunch of us got some spiffy new harnesses from fans, but can we ask for a few more things? Not too much, we don't want to weigh down your sleigh, just some warm, cozy and tasty stuff that we can have fun with. And if you happen to see any "forever homes" that need a friendly doggie or two, could you keep us in mind?"

The details of that are still being worked out. Everything is set on the foster's end, now we need final approval from Kanab...probably won't know for sure until after T-giving.

yep - fencing. she is up and around - I saw one of the vet techs taking her out behind the clinic for a potty break but was with my class group so couldn't see her but she looked happy and was just hopping around on 3 legs. I think it's her left one but not positive. I hope to visit her the end of the week and if I do get a chance to I will definitely update everyone on how she is doing. I am sure they know how wonderful she is - if you meet her for 1 minute how could you not?!?!? love that girl!
