Dahlila's Dig
"She's a doll."
"She's a diva, really."
"She's irrestible, and we all adore her."
Alas, Courtney, Lori, and Shannon, all from the Human Resource Office at Best Friends, are not talking about me, but our sweet Dahlila of the Lodges.

Dahlila, you see, has a new job. She is chief entertainer at the HR office, Monday thru Friday, 8-5. When I spoke to Courtney, Lori, and Shannon at HR last week (while Dahlila curled up on my husband's foot and fell fast asleep), they all gushed about Dahlila's cleverness.
"You should see what she does with her toys," they exclaimed. "She runs around the office with a toy in her mouth, tosses it up in the air, and then jumps up to catch it!" (I might add here that the office floor was covered with toys. Hmm, could that be why HR is now being referred to as Dahlila's Dig?")
"Tell me more about what Dahlila does during the day," I asked.
"Well," the gals responded, "She's spunky all morning--that's when she plays with her toys and goes for walks--and in the afternoon, she sleeps on her pillow." (A pillow surrounded by a ton of toys, of course.)
"She loves visitors," they continued. "And she's very well-mannered with them. She cozies up to them, wiggles her butt, and gives out soft kisses. And when a treat is in sight, that girl sits down on her rump faster than you can say cutie pie." (Robin and I witnessed the cutie pie act firsthand. Irrestible!)

The only sad thing is when it is time for Dahlila to go back to her run at the Lodges. Dahlila knows it is time to say good-bye, and she doesn't want to budge. The staffer chosen to take her back has to carry her into a car, drive her back to her octagon, and then carry her into her run. Dahlila uses this opportunity to snuggle against the person, her eyes closed, her heart fully in love.
Ah, Dahlila, someday your sweet dream will come true, and you will find your forever home. In the meantime, thank you for doing such good work at HR. You lift the hearts of everyone who meets you, and that, my dear sweet girl, is the most important job of all.
