Oscar is a handsome boy.  He is one of the Vicktory dogs.  Oscar is super smart...he passed his Canine Good Citizen Test (which is no easy feat).  He can be a little shy at first, but with treats and toys he can easily be won over.  We're excited to have Oscar at the Lodges.

Oscar!  You wonderful fellow!

I read some months ago about Oscar passing the CGC test.  Doesn't this mean that he can be fostered?

And then after he has been fostered, he can be adopted, right?  If I had a good environment for this guy, I'd foster him and and then adopt him, in a heartbeat!

He is handsome....Way to go!!  What Lodge is he in?

Back in February Oscar shared a run with another pitty who was white and black and I never found out his/her name.  I was told both Oscar and his run mate were Vick dogs....does anyone know which dog I'm referring to?  He/she was a cutie too.

I had not heard that Oscar had a run-mate.  I know that Oliver and Meryl, two Vicktory dogs, are run-mates and that Oliver is white and black.

Here is a February article about Oliver and Meryl:  http://news.bestfriends.org/index.cfm?page=news&mode=entry&entry=A0F78A2F-BA2A-DAB3-2F4CC1339AE34172

It seems to me that Oscar might be a great candidate for a run-mate.  He looks like a very intelligent and charming fellow, and he has passed his CGC test!  I wish some of my dogs could do that.

LOL - You are so right....I remember reading that story now !!  So many O dogs - Oscar, Oliver, Oddie, Ogy....AHHHHHH ! !  Well Oscar will defintately be a doggie on my list next time I visit.

Does anyone know where Oliver went??  I didn't see him last month when I was at BF...I walked right by where he use to be with Meryl.

Ronda, I confuse dogs' names so often -- it's embarrassing.  We now have Oscar and Oliver straightened out, though.

Amy Hook tells me (thank you, Amy) that Oliver is now being fostered by Betsy and Jake, two of the caregivers who work with dogs.  Amy says that Meryl is still in the same place (you just missed her that day) and that she has a new run-mate named Fisher.

So, when is Oscar -- that good fellow -- going to get a run-mate?  Don't you love that dog's face?

Can anyone tell me how Oscar is doing these days?  Does he have a green collar?

He must be a very smart fellow to pass his Canine Good Citizen test.  I wish some of my dogs could do that -- actually, I wish I were as good a trainer as Carissa and the caregivers at Best Friends.

I'd sure like to meet Oscar when I visit in November.  He seems like a first-class guy.

Oscar is doing well. He is one of my regulars when I walk dogs at the Lodges. He is great on leash, doesn't pull at all and is just a great boy. Unfortunately all the Vicktory dogs got red collars when they moved into the general population, because the court order states that they cannot be handled by volunteers. It's really unfortunete because most of them are really easy to walk. If Oscar is still here in November, I am sure one of us can bring him out and you can meet him from a distance or accompany us on a walk at a save distance.

That would be a delight!  What a very kind suggestion!

Perhaps one day the court will reconsider the order.  I'm no expert, but it seems to me that what was a sensible order 18 months ago, when nobody knew the dogs very well, might properly be rethought, now that lots of professionals have lots of experience with each dog.

Thank you!  I'd love to see this guy.  I have found him fascinating ever since he passed his CGC test -- the very first of the Vicktory dogs to do so.  And who wouldn't love that face?

It was my pleasure to sponsor Oscar this month.  He seems to me to be an extremely intelligent and likeable fellow.  As I understand it, he's pretty shy around strangers, but this is no big deal -- so are a lot of people I know!

AND he's a great-looking guy.  Best wishes, Oscar.

Paul
