HELP: Himalayan cat will be euthanized if not re-homed soon!

We are unexpectedly moving away from Fort Pierce, FL, on 10/23 and cannot bring Willy with us, due to the circumstances where we will be living.

Willy is a neutered & declawed male, and is perhaps about 3 years old. He does not spray. Willy is unused to children & other pets, and nips to get attention (due to lack of claws). We have been unable to find him a new home, because of the nipping, and most shelters would euthanize him. The local no-kill shelters are full.

Willy is a beautiful cat, and is genuinely good-natured & affectionate. But Willy needs the right environment, and a gentle, patient owner who is willing to get used to his quirks. Willy will be euthanized if he does not find a home in about a week.

Unfortunately we cannot post a photo of Willy.

Here is the other doggie needing a home. He is in much better shape than his friend the Pit bull. Anyway, they are both extremely sweet and eager to have a safe, warm place with plenty of food.

These two sweeties were found wandering around our neighborhood for over a week now. I've called shelters and posted signs but no one has come forward to claim them.

There is a female pit bull, she is incredibly sweet and loving, she just wants a home. Her friend is some sort of shepherd mix, he is male and neither of these appear to be neutered. I'm trying desperately to find these two a home, they seem to be attached to eachother but both need good homes. Please contact me if interested!

4 years ago we rescued a senior Chartreux from Petsmart. Frank is a great cat: his sweet personality and huge size make him memorable for everyone. The problem? Frank is allergic to just about everything he eats. I have no idea what else to do, and the vets are at a loss too. I was hoping that someone had some experience and some advice. He currently eats rabbit Instinct, and has a SERIOUS allergy to sweet potato, wheat and corn. We used to feed Royal Canin, but he developed colonitis. If I feed him wet he throws up, no matter how slowly I feed him. With the Instinct, he smells up the house so bad I should buy stock in incense. He also doesn't like to use the box to poo in (he steps out after peeing), which after 4 years of bowel problems we're at our breaking point. Can anyone help?

I work on the Univ. of CA campus in Santa Cruz and rescued a cat, Penny, in October '07 who had been abandoned on campus. My vet donated an initial exam, vaccines, and spaying, and I've been caring for her for the past year, including getting her boosters. She is a lovely cat with humans, but is completely hostile to other animals. I have two other cats and for the past year I've been trying to play peace-keeper, but this hasn't worked out. I've found a new home for Penny, where she will be an only pet. The problem is that this home is with a knitting friend outside Seattle, Washington, and I have no way of getting Penny there. Her new mother is currently pregnant, so in addition to boosters, I've also put a toxoplasmosis titer (Penny tested negative) on my credit card. I've considered doing a single day flight up and back and taking Penny as carry-on, but I don't have the money for this and really, really don't want to run my credit card debt up any higher (I've worked it down to $4,000 over the past year, and am trying to keep it moving downward).I am hoping that the Best Friends Network might be able to hook me up with someone going from the Monterey Bay Area or San Francisco Bay Area to Seattle in the near future who could take Penny along. I would be glad to drive her for an couple hours to get her to someone who can take her the rest of the way--I just can't manage the full trip myself right now.

Max is a loving sweet border collie mix looking for his forever home. He really needs a yard and someone skilled to work with his needs. He'd be better in a home with another dog as he hates being alone and might not be suited in a home with kids. He's be a great dog for herding and agility training. I am a volunteer at a No Time Limit Shelter in Berea Ohio. On January 1st, 2009 the Berea Animal Control Officer met with the shelters operations manager and dog committee and gave the name of three dogs which needed to be out of the city limits in 30 days due to severe attacks by these three dogs on other dogs. Rosie has been at the shelter for almost a year now, Cinnamon has been adopted twice and returned twice, and Hamlin is a new comer. No matter their history these three dogs still need a chance! The Berea Animal Rescue does all it can to help and make their animals adoptable but shelter life can be harder on some dogs than others.

Casper is a 9yr. old mixed golden retriever. He has a scratch on his left eye that won't heal. We have already spent over 500.00 and he now needs to see a eye doctor. Just the first visit is 95.00 and NO ONE will take paymemts!!! Please help!!! My vet called it boxer eye? I have 4 dogs all rescues and we do keep up with normal care. I have had alot of health issues and we are just getting by. I only need to find someone who will let us make small payments each month.

Hurricane Gustav Animal Rescue Update

KAT 5 Animal Rescue is on the ground in Louisiana helping animals in the wake of Hurricane Gustav. While Gustav is not the scale of Katrina, there are animals in dire need.

We are finding animals who need medical care and who have no food and water including dogs who have been left chained to fences.

Today a KAT 5 transport picked up dogs from hurricane damaged shelters. The animals will be placed in homes and no-kill rescues.

To continue our rescue efforts donations are needed for medical costs for the animals, transports and supplies. If you would like to support the rescue efforts of KAT 5 please go to:

One hundred percent of the money donated will go to the animals. KAT 5 is a 501c3 non-profit.

Gustav heading to NOLA on Katrina 3 Year Anniversary

Help is needed in NOLA now and after the storm.

As predictions stand now Hurricane Gustav is due to hit the area of New Orleans late Monday. The track changes frequently so plans will change accordingly.

Volunteers are needed for immediate dispatch to New Orleans in Jefferson Parish to aid with pet evacuations and man checkpoints. Please plan to be self sufficient. Some cots are available but others will need to stay in their cars overnight. Help is needed all day Saturday and you will likely be moving out on Sunday as the storm approaches.

Help will be needed again after the storm. Updates will be sent out. Please email if you are available to help in NOLA after Tuesaday of next week. (This day could change).

Places are also needed to evacuate to for about 200 dogs and cats from Jefferson Parish. This number changes by the hour. Please send out to all rescues. Muttshack is providing transport. Please contact KAT 5 if you are a rescue able to take in animals evacuated.

Ain't too proud to beg: Milo (FeLV kitty needs a home)

Milo has FeLV (feline leukemia). Milo is only about six months old. He is very affectionate, playful and purrs and purrs when you love on him.

Milo (male cat, 6 mo, neutered, all shots up to date, FeLV +)

Milo is in remission and can live a happy, long life as long as he is kept indoors and is not around other cats unless they are also FeLV positive. KAT 5 is hopeful that there is a special person out there who is willing and able to adopt Milo. Milo's foster is moving soon and his placement is paramount. Homesick for the home I've never had: Leo

Leo was pulled from a kill shelter by a rescue group twice! He then was sent on a transport to a new home where he got out the very day that he arrived. Leo was lost for almost 3 weeks on the streets scared and hungry.

There is no place like home!: McKenzie finds a home

McKenzie does not need to squeeze her eyes shut and click her fuzzy paws together while reciting, "There is no place like home..." because she is already home at long last!

McKenzie went from a life living in fear on the railroad tracks to a loving home with a new Rottweiler sister named Lucy and her new 'Mom' Mary Ann and 'Dad' Willie. *McKenzie is pictured above in the forefront with her sister Lucy.

"McKenzie fits right in with our family and has adapted well to all of us. At first she was really timid and shy but she has made a great adjustment and knows she is wanted", Mary Ann said.

McKenzie now has the life that she always dreamed of; loved by a family of her own. KAT 5 has three other animals waiting to have a happy ending like McKenzie. "Somewhere over the rainbow" there are wonderful homes for them out there...maybe yours or someone that you know?

Artist Statement: I am the Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue Spokesdog against puppy mills, pet stores, and homeless dogs. I have dedicated my life to this cause and in doing so I create art by painting with my paws. Painting helps me to overcome my pain of my early days in a puppy mill and also helps with bringing awareness to these issues.

Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue, in Bethel, Ohio, came to Mozart's rescue by offering him a safe and healthy environment with lots of love.
