Hurricane Gustav Animal Rescue Update
KAT 5 Animal Rescue is on the ground in Louisiana helping animals in the wake of Hurricane Gustav. While Gustav is not the scale of Katrina, there are animals in dire need.

We are finding animals who need medical care and who have no food and water including dogs who have been left chained to fences.

Today a KAT 5 transport picked up dogs from hurricane damaged shelters. The animals will be placed in homes and no-kill rescues.

To continue our rescue efforts donations are needed for medical costs for the animals, transports and supplies. If you would like to support the rescue efforts of KAT 5 please go to:
kat5.org

One hundred percent of the money donated will go to the animals. KAT 5 is a 501c3 non-profit.

Thank you for all of the offers of help. This is an ongoing effort with changing needs. We very much appreciate your willingness to to make our rescue efforts possible.

Thank you,
KAT 5

I lost my dogs the day of the storm, i let them out to get some exercise and use the bathroom and they ran away (for the first time) i think they were spooked by the storm; but I miss them terribly and am doing everything i can think of to find them... do you have a list or something that i can look to see if they are around somewhere? They are both Pitt bulls, but extremely friendly and sweet; i am so afraid someone is going to hurt them or euthanize them based on their breed. the male is about 85lbs, wearing a black collar and black and white, he looks like a cow and is more fat than muscle. He is 1 year old... the female is about 50lbs wearing a blue collar, and blonde. she is very athletic, and cuddly, she is 2 years old. If anyone has seen them or has any ideas where i can check other than the animal control, please email me at princess_of_zales@yahoo.com. thank you!!!!!!! Hopefully they would still be in Baton Rouge.

also... we found a bassett hound; he is so sweet, older, fixed, mostly black with a little white and brown. He seems house trained, and very well manored. I was/am hoping to find his parents, but i'd like to find a good home for him also. He is older, and i don't want to risk him being put down.
