Full of Grace: The long way home...
I (Susan, KAT 5) was driving home today when I saw a poor pit bull girl running alongside the road in the rain.

I parked my car in a driveway after seeing her run behind a house. A man came out and asked what I was up to. I told him about the poor dog and asked to run through his yard. He said, "Is she your dog?". I told him no but she looked like she needed help. He let me go through his yard but she went running through the alley.

I lost her and then returned to my car to get to the next street. I called my Mom for backup and asked her to bring some food. We saw her at the end of a road three streets down and got out. She continued to run so I sat on the grass and called to her.

She crawled to me on her belly shaking and put her head on my knee. Mom gave her some food and she hesitantly walked between the two of us.

Tomorrow Grace, her new name, will go to the Vet to be vetted. Grace has cuts on her. She looks pregnant but the Vet will check her out.

I had been on my way home thinking about our new rotts and finding them forever homes and I found this darling girl. Tonight she is warm and safe. These poor dogs (pit bulls) have it so hard. Pits are the most abused dogs in the world. Looking into this sad girl's eyes I thought of how man has stigmatized this poor breed when all they want is love and kindness.

Thank you, Susan, thank you, thank you. Thank you for all your action on Theodore's behalf. Thank you for saving the other Rotties along the way. Thank you for taking pity on poor Grace in the rain. Others would have said, "Just another pit," "She must belong to somebody," "I'm on my way to somewhere important and I just don't want to get involved." Susan stopped and tracked and called mom to say, "Come, and bring food!" lovemybabies is right: you are an angel.

Please keep us posted on Grace's progress. With so many pits at BF, would they really notice if you just quietly slipped Grace in there? She sounds like she would enhance any environment. Maybe she could be a Guardian Angel dog for a while, especially if she IS pregnant?

Thank you all for caring about sweet Grace. Grace is at the Vet until Monday. She is covered in new and old scars from head to toe. She was likely used as a bait or training dog for dog fighters.

Ellie recently had puppies. (No puppies were found. It is possible that she was let loose after she had pups). The Vet said that she will never grow to full size because she was bred too young over and over again.

The good news is that Grace is safe now. I will keep you updated on her journey. Grace is now spayed. She is timid and gentle.

Such good news about Grace and Ellie! No more scars, no more litters. Only safety and love from here on out. Susan, can you get pictures of Ellie and her pups?

Hi Mimi, I am sorry that I was confusing everyone! :) The Vet thinks that Grace recently had puppies but there were not any puppies in the area that I found her.

Ellie is not pregnant. She is at a Vet in Chicago getting treated. (When we found her her head looked like it had been bashed in). Ellie & Mckenzie are still looking for rescues or homes. They are both wonderful dogs and they will be fully Vetted.

A picture of Ellie can be seen on the link above. She is so sweet and wonderful. She will make happy addition to a loving home. She is going to be fine.

Thank you, Susan

It is more than amazing how the search for Theo led to Ellie, Goliath, and Milo. And now, the next day, Grace. My heart is touched that these are saved.

Grace has a potential adopter! One of the Vets at the animal clinic is interested in having her join her family. If it is a good fit then Grace will have a family. I will update you!

Grace has a home! Grace gets along great with her new canine brother and her new Mom promises that the bad times are behind her. Thank you for your positive thoughts for Grace.
