Hey!
I can't speak for much since I'm still in the process of getting everything straightend out. But most of the employee housing (per the information I got a few days ago) ranges from $100-250 a week or something like 15-30 a night. I was looking in to quail park lodge who are offering me 49 a night (instead of their normal 89-112 a night).
Also,. if I read correctly, Xbar lodge is offering $30 a night for interns. This price seems super low and not right to me but I'm pretty sure thats what my information packet said, lol.
Hopefully this is somewhat helpful =]

Hiya!!
I'm still working on my housing!
Here's some info on Flagstone apartments:
"The Flagstone units are studio apartments that are in downtown Kanab. They are very convenient to Best Friends Animal Society – about a ten minute drive. Unfortunately we do not have a website for the Flagstone yet. The rooms have a bed, dresser, nightstand, small refrigerator, microwave, and of course a bathroom. They are similar to a hotel room setup. All utilities, including wireless internet access, are included in the price. The rooms are $550/month and this includes free internet access and all utilities. The units have TV’s, but I am in the process of having satellite or cable hooked up for the complex – it should be done by October. The Flagstone is a one level building. All the units are accessed on the ground level with doors that lead directly outside – there are no interior hallways. The tenants are mostly Best Friends Animal Society employees/volunteers and also some people who do not work at Best Friends."
You can email Lynn Battista @ reservations@kanabcottages.com to get more info. She gets back to you really quickly.

Wow! I think if I get in, I'mma head for Flagstone. =D
Hey Laura thanks for that information on Flagstone!
Just finished up making my reservation with them. That was a whole lot cheaper than the other options I was considering.

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica and I actually just finished up my internship at Best Friends (the second Summer Session). I just thought I would throw in my two cents on a couple things you have been discussing. I honestly wouldn't recommend staying at the Flagstone, the rooms seem quite small and not in the greatest shape. Granted, some of you seem to have already made reservations there, so I'm not sure if there is anything you can do about it now. While it may be closer to stay there as opposed to most of the staff houses, I would really, REALLY recommend staying with a staff member (and I'm pretty sure most of them will be cheaper to stay with too). All the staff members are really friendly and it's nice to be staying with someone who knows the in's and out's of the area. They can give you tips on areas to visit and many of them have animals that can keep you company. I know all of the interns from our session stayed with staff members and pretty much all of us seem to have liked the people we stayed with.
As for carpooling, it isn't really feasible except for the first day when you take the tour. After that, you will be so spread out and often times you need your own car in order to get from point A to point B and also to transport animals. If there are interns that will be working in pigs and horses on the same day, carpooling may possibly work since they are basically in the same area. Aside from that, it really isn't a good idea. Especially if many of you choose to work with a project dog, you will need your own car to take them out during your one-on-one times.
Hope this is helpful and if you have any other questions, I will try to check back every couple days to help answer them!
Hi Everyone,
I sent out an email to the Oct. interns, but a few of the addresses must not be correct as the message bounced back to me.
Anyways, I wanted to see if any of you were possibly going to rent a room from Carrie Smith, an employee at BF. I'm wondering because she said she was waiting to hear from another person who wanted the same dates that I need. Anyways, I want to bring my two cats, and she said that would be fine, if this other person decides not to rent from her. I have another room with a BF employee booked, but they won't allow me to bring my cats. So, I was going to see if the person would want to switch. Just let me know!
Thanks!
