Call for volunteers
Volunteers are urgently needed in New Orleans to help in the final drive to rescue pets displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

The work involves humane trapping of dogs and cats on the streets, and helping care for the animals at the rescue center.

The rescue program is managed by Best Friends Animal Society. If you'd like to donate a few days of your time to help the animals, please fill out our Volunteer Form at http://www.bestfriends.org/HF/VL.cfm.

The people of Louisiana who truly realize that having pets or our babies, like we call them our house, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEART..........your tireless work for saving these animals in some of the most hot, humid weather we have here in Louisiana that ya'll had to endure and still ya'll stayed true to the cause. Ya'll were a literal God send!! Merci Becoup ....which is "thank you" in French!!

I just returned from volunteering @ Celebration Station in New Orleans. I can 't say enough to commend the work of the Volunteer coordinator (Kerri sp.?) and Lisa-puppy wrangler extraordinaire by day and chef by night, and Jane and the vet techs and and and..... 24 hour days spent teaching us to bottle feed week old puppies, clean and care for lonely animals and organize the daily changing crew of volunteers into the loving hard working group they become. I was astonished at the cleanliness and the hard work and the love that I found there. Thanks to all for the opportunity to have been a part of such a dedicated core of wonderfworkers-transforming heartbreaking stories into loving reality.

Would you still need volunteers in the middle of Feb?? Thanks for any info.!!!

Yes....we need volunteers through the end of February. Celebration Station in the New Orleans area you get to sleep on the second floor of the old arcade and enjoy a chilly shower. Tylertown can still use help too, lots going on there as well. The animals are waiting for you.

For how long do you want/need volunteers? How are people getting down there, typically, from points north?

Have you had any donations of cars from rental car agencies?

For Project Save A Pet........Wouldn't it be soooooo nice if the NFL and the station broadcasting the superbowl would offer a free 30 second spot, better yet 1 minute.
Everyone start e-mailing them.

Is there still a need to volunteer at BFAS so that others can go to NO? Since I live in Utah, that would be so much easier for me to do!!

Volunteers are always welcomed and appreciated at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.

It's all good, wherever you can help.
