Can anyone offer me any resources to finding out more about the issues of soring and padding the Tennessee Walking Horse and the gait called Big Lick? Thanks!

Darn it - I just saw an article in one of my horse magazines about this!!! I will have to search my magazine piles to see if I still have it somewhere. It was either Horse Illustrated or Equus.

Hi Bum,
If you go to google.com and just type in
"+soring"
you will get more than you can absorb about the tortuous, ILLEGAL, practice of soring Tennessee Walking Horses, American Saddlebreds and sometimes Arabians. There are also there "methods" of training horses in all disciplines such as "injecting" tails in Quarter Horses. Just about any discipline there is...you will find those who will torture the animals to get the "look" they want for the show ring.
It is an ugly, sneaky, illegal business that judges in all disciplines have been turning a blind eye to for way too long.
I am curious though...why do you ask?
