Behind the Eye of a Rabbit ….
UPDATE: July 18, 2006
Congratulations to Paula Ackroyd of Lumberton, New Jersey, who submitted the winning bid on the painting of Trooper. Beverly Endsley, a member of the Colorado House Rabbit Society, created this artwork in tribute to Trooper, the bunny who inspired her to start rescuing bunnies. The proceeds, $635, will benefit the Great Bunny Rescue of 2006.Pictured:: "Trooper,” original oil painting by Beverly Endsley which will go on sale on eBay July 5th to benefit the Best Friends Rabbits.Trooper was a sick, frightened bunny, sold by some desperately poor farmers, along with most of their other worldly goods – so they could survive.
The people who bought him were so touched by his scared little face that they set out to rescue more homeless bunnies in need. His frightened little personality inspired the life- saving adoptions of many lonely rabbits who had nowhere else to go. He strived always to be a “good boy”, hopping three flights of stairs to reach a litterbox so he wouldn’t be any trouble to his family. But today, he’s only a memory.
Proceeds from the sale of Trooper’s portrait will go entirely to benefit a group of homeless pet rabbits in Reno, Nevada, who are currently being rescued by Best Friends Animal Society. By making a bid, you can help Trooper’s legacy of caring live on.
Trooper’s painting will be offered on eBay, starting Wednesday, July 5 and bids will be accepted for a seven-day period.BID NOW!

They attach to their people, learn some words and absolutely know their names. Their binkies and dances of joy fill the hearts of all who see them. They require that their people learn to read their ‘body language’ to fully communicate, but that is a very small price to pay for the joy of having a bunny in your life.”
The painting is an original, oil on canvas, 11 X 14. The compassionate and generous artist is Beverly Endsley.
