Special needs bunnies find special people
Mother and daughter team Mary and Lisa Carrara experienced a major life change in the time that it takes to make a U-turn. The avid rabbit lovers had just spent a week at the Best Friends rabbit rescue ranch in the roles of wranglers, feeders, cleaners, medicators, and bunny friends. The night before they left, they were both wishing they could do more.

They had only driven a couple of miles toward their Las Vegas home when they made a U-turn back to the ranch. They had decided they could do more -- a lot more.

When they left the second time, Mary and Lisa had become Rabbit Rangers -- their car packed with 17 special needs rabbits.

It’s been a couple of weeks since the bunnies arrived and now the biggest problem facing Lisa and Mary is that they may be feeling a bit lonely be when the bunnies are adopted into permanent homes!

"The babies are all doing very well,” says Lisa. ”They love being on the lawn and eating grass. We’ve made sure that they get lots of love and attention and all 17 of them were named in the first week. They love getting their medicine, they love the dogs and cat and are very tame. These are obviously great qualities for adoption and will hopefully increase their chances for good homes.”

Thanks Lisa & Mary! Hope they all can find such loving people to care for them.

The bunnies look like they're in a huddle to see who's going to take on that funny looking "rabbit" with the short ears on the other side of the wire!

The 2 bunnies I'm fostering absolutely crack me up! Not being an experienced bunny person (before-hand) I didn't know what funny personalities they have.

Hi, Can someone please tell me how to keep the bunnys in the yard? It has been my experience that they would burrow out of any fence so you had to put wire underneath. But this yard looks like it was in long before the bunnies arrived. I wouldn't want to take any only to have them escape. Thanks, Cheryl

Cheryl,

I responded to your question on the Rabbit Resources forum.

I live in the Vegas area. I'm wondering if Mary and Lisa still have any bunnies available for adoption. Is there any way to contact them?
Thanks, Carolyn

I live in the Las Vegas area and I have 2 Dutch Dwarf bunnies that are close to 5 years of age. My husband used them for magic shows but since moving here we don't do any shows anymore and with a hectic and busy work life, allergies and an infant child our poor bunnies do not get all the TLC they deserve. we are considering giving them up for adoption. Would you know anyone who would be willing to take them?
