Lights, camera, action!
Do you recognize this TV star? He’s the rabbit who appeared on CNN and FOX on Good Friday, sitting on Paul Tharp’s lap as he told the story of the Great Bunny Rescue. And this bunny showed real star quality!
Watch us on CNNWatch us on FOXHis name at the rescue ranch is Jarhead. But when he learned he was going on TV, he decided he needed a stage name: Bert the Bunny!
When the bunnies heard they were going to be on TV, Bert had to beat out more than 1,200 other rabbits to get the role of “lap sitter” – no small achievement. But his perfect manners and mellow demeanor won him the part. Of course, he’d never been on TV before, so Paul brought a back-up bunny to the studio with him, just in case – a darling girl named Schmutzy, who sat right next to Bert in a travel carrier to give him moral support.
Bert arrived at the studio with his own stylist, Renee Phelps, who wiped his feet and fluffed his hair. “And don’t forget to twitch your nose for the camera! The people at home will love that!”
Bert was cool as a cucumber as he waited for his big moment … and twitched his nose as the CNN cameras rolled! Then he sat and schmoozed with Schmutzy until it was time for his next interview on FOX. This rabbit is going places!
