Lights, camera, action!
Do you recognize this TV star? He’s the rabbit who appeared on CNN and FOX on Good Friday, sitting on Paul Tharp’s lap as he told the story of the Great Bunny Rescue. And this bunny showed real star quality!

Watch us on FOX

His name at the rescue ranch is Jarhead. But when he learned he was going on TV, he decided he needed a stage name: Bert the Bunny!

When the bunnies heard they were going to be on TV, Bert had to beat out more than 1,200 other rabbits to get the role of “lap sitter” – no small achievement. But his perfect manners and mellow demeanor won him the part. Of course, he’d never been on TV before, so Paul brought a back-up bunny to the studio with him, just in case – a darling girl named Schmutzy, who sat right next to Bert in a travel carrier to give him moral support.

Bert arrived at the studio with his own stylist, Renee Phelps, who wiped his feet and fluffed his hair. “And don’t forget to twitch your nose for the camera! The people at home will love that!”

Bert was cool as a cucumber as he waited for his big moment … and twitched his nose as the CNN cameras rolled! Then he sat and schmoozed with Schmutzy until it was time for his next interview on FOX. This rabbit is going places!

I'm thrilled to see the Bunnies made it to CNN! Great Job of reporting! I emailed CNN last week and told them they shouldn't miss reporting the Great Bunny Rescue, especially at this time of year! I hope the publicity helps to find homes for all the bunnies. I just wish I could be there to help!

Around the sanctuary one usually sees Paul Tharp dealing with the likes of half-wild mustangs and huge, feisty mules. It's really fun to see him with a widdle biddy bunny in his lap.

Great job on both interviews Paul!

WAY COOL!! This is so great! I mean, for weeks there was little to no attention being paid to the rescue, and now the buns and Best Friends are on CNN AND FOX!! holy hairy honey buns!

Paul is such a serene man, I have to hand it to him and "Bert" they were both immensely calm given the national attention they were getting!!

I loved the Fox story most because they mentioned Best Friends several times and showed the website address on screen too. That's AWESOME!

yay yay yay! wahoo! happy holidays everyone!

Good job, Paul. You were calm, cool and collected. We're all proud of you (and I know Lynn is too).

I guess those of us at Best Friends had better be worried that we might loose Paul to one of those big TV Networks! Great job Paul. Couldn't have asked for a better spokesperson.
