Life Is Good - Zephyr Leaves His Fears Behind To Live A Charmed Life
When Zephyr came to us at 12 weeks with mom Autumn and siblings Zinnia & Timber, we soon saw how he was always a bit more curious than his brother and sister even though he still harbored deep fears of his first terrifying months of life.

The three were stuck together like glue as their mom recovered from near death, and it seems he took over the dual job of protector and explorer much to Zin & Tim's cautious wonder.

Zeph grew up with a constant look of fascination in his eyes that compelled him to investigate everything he thought held the smallest potential of interest. Zinnia & Timber were forever his curious onlookers.

Then Zephie's world expanded by leaps and bounds when Lisa and Jiminy invited him into their home. Nearly five months later and in a new house with their very own backyard, he's been kicking up his furry heels with such exuberance and wild abandon he could never cultivate at the shelter.

Lisa has made tremendous strides bringing out Zephyr's true personality, finding he's a silly, cuddly and adoring boy who has all but lost his fear of the unfamiliar and literally bounds with joy at everyday events like going outside. Lisa has dubbed this the Zephie Zoomies, tail held high and a smile always on his face.

awww thank you Lori .... or was it Tom??? Anyway, Thank you!
Zephie is just so adorable. He is as stated, very curious about EVERY thing. Just this morning he was trying to play with a Toad that was in the backyard. I'm not sure he'd ever seen one before. He barked at it, did the play bow, raced around it and barked at it again trying to get it to play with him. Smart toad didn't move so Zeph ran and grabbed his squeakie - Skunkie - tossed it in the air, caught it, then threw it with a toss of his head and ran after it.....his own game of fetch. He does that with his bone too. I've been working on getting him to "bring it" to me and low and behold, most times he does. Zephyr is as smart as he is curious and watching him grow and learn more and more every day is something I treasure.

Zeph adores his brother. He will gladly follow Jiminy anywhere, no matter how scared he is....even when it's Jiminy who is scared b/c of thunder and hides under my desk, Zeph will follow him and lay down beside him. Jiminy used to give Zephyr a quick unapproving bark, but Zeph just ignored him and snuggled up closer. Jiminy has now accepted that Zephyr is his shadow - personnally I think Jiminy likes it, but he will never admit it. :)

Zephyr also likes to follow me and will happily go out in the wee hours of the morning when I have had to check on something in the backyard (my awning due to the weather ). Jim stays put, happy to sleep, while Zeph is up and by my side. That silly boy doesn't care for the sprinklers, but he will happily stand out in the rain.

Just yesterday evening Zephyr learned about the Evil Mockingbirds. He ran out the back door into the yard, started to grab his beloved bone when out of nowhere came a mockingbird and poked him right on the butt. Zephyr jumped about 10 ft. in the air and looked at that bird wondering why he'd poked him. Zeph kept his eye on that bird for the rest of the time we were outside.

Both my doggie boys bring me such joy and laughter on a daily basis. No time for dwelling on sad things when those two are around.

I am very blessed indeed.

Thank you to Lori, Tom, Kelly and Jeff for taking such good care of my little man and helping him break through his scared shell so that he could find his way to Texas for Jiminy, Bissa and I. Our lives would be much poorer without him.

Hugs,
Lisa

Lovely post, Tom & Lori. I so look forward to my evening talks with Lisa to hear how the home is coming (she's killin' herself I tell ya) and the exploits of Jim and Zeph.
First time I saw Zepher was at the grand opening party at Fredonia last October. Little Zeph would pop his head through the doggy door to the outdoor run but when I made eye contact, Poof he went back out.
Lisa and the rest of you at FHS have worked miracles for this adorable pooch. I continue to just "roll" so to speak in the huge success of his love of life now. Momma Lisa has worked her magic once again.

Many thanks to all of you. Zepher is a new dog, just loving life (and his new home with Lisa)

Lisa! Zeph and the J-Man struck GOLD when they got you as their Momma!! Bissa is just gonna have to face facts... Dogs RULE! *just kidding, Bissa!!! I know it's YOUR house and they are your staff.*

LOL, bissa is going to fire his "staff" - primarily me, after he got shut in the computer room all night long. I closed the door when I left not realizing he was in there. I do a quick scan to make sure no one is in there, but some how I missed him. I realized when I woke up this morning he had never come to bed (he always sleeps with me). I freaked out searching for him and found him in that room.
He was ticked and let me know it, but otherwise he was fine.

We've heard of the doggy lottery -that perfect home all homeless dogs deserve. Both Jim and Zephie won in very big ways and I'm so very glad that Lisa is blessed with these boys.
