Dermott's Double?
Those of you who have been acquainted with Best Friends for at least a few years will know Dermott (top photo), a special needs pit bull with a heart as big as his oversized head.
He graced the Guardian Angel site for a long time, first as he received therapy for a genetically handicapped backend, then on to earning his CGC and finally to his forever home. For those who don't know Dermott, here's his
progress journal from entrance into the GA program to his trip to the Rainbow Bridge.
When Trooper (bottom of double photo) first came to us from the Gap, we immediately thought of Dermott. Having come to know this pittie boy with the oversized head and heart to match, it's clear he and Dermott have a lot in common.

Trooper was initally spotted last summer by a passerby at the Gap filling station who noticed he was definitely not feeling well. Unable to take Troop right then and there, the driver placed several calls trying to locate someone who could help; one of those calls ultimately reached FHS, and he was soon being evaluated by BF's clinic where he was diagnosed with
valley fever, a soil-based fungal disease that compromises the immune system.
After a few month's stay at a remote foster, Troop's back at FHS for his second series of drug therapy after relapsing, but you'd never know it by his sweet, gentle, goofy demeanor. Those planning a visit this spring or summer will really enjoy meeting this special boy.
