"Moving Fast is Not Necessarily the Same Thing as Going Somewhere" - Anon
But soon-to-be mama Angie wasn't concerned with semantics as she evaded capture. UPDATE: PUPS MAKE THEIR DEBUT! NEW PICS 2-20-09

This sight of three adults trying to corral a pregnant heeler mix was one to behold; although weighed down with many pups in that small, swollen belly, Angie managed to outwit all three for about 30 minutes before she made one wrong turn that ultimately saved her and the unborns' lives.

Her travelling buddy - who by physical appearance was a littermate - met his fate on the Gap's two-lane highway earlier that afternoon.

X-rays, ultrasound and extent of milk production all point to another 72 hours before the 8 babies are ready to meet their mom. In the mean time, Angie is learning to trust people, slowly but surely losing her fear and actually taking pleasure in her twice-daily mommy massages.

Aww Angie is so cute, she reminds me a bit of Ricky

grrrr, I already posted here but it looks like the internet spit it someplace into oblivion.

anyway, Angie has a VERY sweet "I'm a love girl" face. Poor thing. That tummy sure is full. I can't wait to see the pups.

Rest easy Angie girl. You and your pups are in a great place.

Condolences on losing Angie's traveling companion. If he looked anything like her, he must have been gorgeous. Sorry, sorry. Sending good thoughts to the pups.

More Gap puppies! I hope they are all healthy and happy as they greet the world. I'm so sorry for Angie's companion.

Only 30 minutes?? Good job well done! I chased a stray around the town near by on 3 separate times only to lose the chance to catch her. I was so depressed.. it was a FREEZING December nearly 9 years ago and I didn't think she and her litter would survive the cold. She was HUGE with puppies. Thankfully a rescue group did manage to catch the mom and she led them to a litter of 11 puppies. My Dad paid a local rescue group to take them in and all the pups were adopted out but the momma remained there for nearly 6 months.
I'd just started a new job and and my soon to be best friend Roxanne mentioned that she and her husband were considering adopting a dog. I suggested her checking out the mom dog and THEY ADOPTED HER.

Morgan "Mindi" has been their baby for nearly 10 years now. She's still living the life of a princess.

Wonderful happy ending. Maybe that's why I so adore Tom & Lori's success stories. Their dedication gives me so much hope.

Any news yet? Do we have puppies!!!!

How is the little momma doing?

Posted 7 Feb 2009 11:22 AM by fredoniahumane
That's quite a story, Mindi! Do you have a pic of Morgan?

Do we have puppies!!!!

It seems 72 hours means something different in doggie time. Angie's currently walking the hallway to help those babies get motivated.

Any news yet??? I feel like a very impatient grandmother.

Posted 7 Feb 2009 7:48 by Bear1
I heard from Lori a bit earlier, still no pups. She said they are being shy. Sorta like my Zephyr, but he's making great strides. We are working house training whcih means he is tethered to me. Right now we are taking a break. He is as worn out as I am.

Hey Tom,

I'm calling Rox tonight. Would you like her on their camping trip, lounging by the pool, taking over their WHOLE BED? This girl really hit the jackpot so to speak..... I'll get some photos off soon.

Good luck on the soon to happen be birthing! Just wish I were ther to help out.

Six pups were born between 7:30 & 9:30 Sunday morning - waiting on numbers 7 & 8 to make their entrance. All are eating and appear healthy. Angie's a great mom.

UPDATE 10:45am: 7 & 8 just arrived one minute apart.

An obvious case of switched-at-birth.

2 under the back legs, 6 in the middle. Not a light one in the bunch.

Oh sweetness...total sweetness. I wish I were there to love on those babes. Angie looks like she is a good momma. She has such a loving face.

Congradulations to momma and the babies.

HUGS,
Lisa

Congratulations and best wishes all around! More pictures, please!

Ha! Lisa if I weaken and just apply I'm certain you would want to be included in the road trip! You sweet girl. I keep rationalizing that now would be a good time to introduce a puppy to my family but that's really just a dream.

I can just SMELL THEM THO!!!.

Yum

I'm sure they will be on their way to great homes soon.

Enjoy while mom does all the work.....as we know not for long.
They are adorable.

Angie and pups are all adorable, glad to hear they are doing well.

Posted 12 Feb 2009 3:11 by Bear1
so it's been a few days now - - how are the pups? As we all know all too well, they change rapidly when they are babies....so.... how about some PICTURES and a lil update. (no question mark since this is more of a "demand" than an actual question) :)

I do hope they are all doing fantastic.

Hugs from the gang in TX

They are sooo cute! Do you know how many boys and how many girls yet? Hope all are doing well.

Posted 14 Feb 2009 11:26 AM by fredoniahumane
Sorry for the disappearing act!

Everyone is doing great - so good, in fact, that Angie gives herself several breaks each day. After losing the girth of being pregnant, she has turned out to be a very small girl herself, about the size of a small cocker spaniel.

There are 5 boys and 3 girls, as well as 4 distinct "breeds": border collie, rottie, rez brown and silver unknown. Then there is Angie who appears to be Lab/heeler mix.

Pics of each one coming soon....

Posted 20 Feb 2009 6:12 by fredoniahumane
Almost 2 weeks old and already you can tell they're going to surpass mom in size by quite a bit. Angie has come to cherish her alone time away from the rugrats - can you guess why?

Posted 20 Feb 2009 7:50 by Bear1
OH MY GOSH they are HUGE! No wonder she likes the away time. They are so cute!!!!

Posted 20 Feb 2009 10:35 by mindusmae
Yeow! How adorable are they? I want to smell some puppy breath. And what a good Momma! Thanks for the puppy fix and update.

Yummy. They will be adopted so quickly..

Posted 21 Feb 2009 12:57 by judylew
They are sooo big! No wonder Angie needs so many breaks. Just wait til their eyes are open and they're running around. What a melee that will be. Wish I could be there to play with them.
