Rainbows of Love
It's simply amazing how the Internet unites kindred spirits and brings resources where they otherwise would never exist.

Fredonia Humane's very own fairy godmother lives on the other side of the country but she sends packages stuffed full with baby blankets, handmade toys and soft, fleece crate liners like she lived right in the next town. The interesting thing is how these wonderful gifts have gravitated to the isolation area (our climate-controlled garage) where they provide much physical and emotional comfort for the sick and underaged pups.

Bunny certainly used her share. The little pittie girl - with the sharp teeth and terrified demeanor who wouldn't eat dog food and fell ill with parvo - really needed to find some comfort. When we gave her one of Marguerite's fleece toys, it was like watching Linus and his security blanket.

There is no question how a being's emotional health directly impacts the ability to heal; the comfort our FHS fairy godmother brings to the iso ward shows the tremendous value found in very simple things.

Here's bunny shortly after returning from her first adoption event, healthy in mind & body and all full of her little self.

Thank you, Marguerite, for your rainbow packages of love.

Awww, great story! The only sad thing is that Bunny returned from the adoption event without finding her forever home. I know she'll be in good hands until she does. Along, with Autumn and Christine (whom I hope find their forever homes soon, too).

What a wonderful gift from Marguerite.

Love this story and also thank Marguerite for helping these sweet munchkins. Question.....does the Fredonia Humane only have dogs, and what are the biggest needs they have (other than obviously money)?

Hi Mary,

We do only have dogs because the shelter is just not conducive for keeping cats away from the stress of being near their canine counterparts.

Since you're local, the most important need we have at the moment is socializing the puppies before they head out on adoption. We're tentatively scheduling this Saturday, April 12, as the first "official" puppy socialization day. Please give a call at 435-689-7000 or email fredhumsoc@aol.com if you're able to attend.

Thank you!

It's a tough job, Mary, but someone has to do it. I'm jealous!

No worries, Carrie. You'll have a whole new set of 'em all to yourselves when you visit.

A note from Marguerite:

I am so elated and overjoyed that my humble gifts of mere cloth and some toys bring such joy to dogs who are in SUCH need of love. Tears blurred my vision as I read the article and looked at the picture of Bunny. She looks so content. I hope some day to hold her in my arms and hug and cuddle her.

My sincere appreciation goes to Tom, Lori and all the volunteers who work so hard at rescuing these poor dogs/pups.

Be assured, the "pup care packages" will keep coming!
