When You Wish Upon A Star...
It's time for everyone to meet Jiminy, one of our very first rescues many years ago.

As you can clearly see, he is a boy with tremendous size & personality, a combination that has earned him praises from strangers everywhere he and Lisa go. He also has a special talent for posting comments here on the network when his momma isn't looking.

The story of how these two finally got together is one for the annals of rescue: what is seemingly happenstance is really the dog finally getting his or her chosen person to see the signs. However, sometimes those signs are clearly recognized but life gets in the way until years later. Lisa's blog is one of the most endearing testaments of her love for Jiminy, a big lug of a dog who helped her ease the pain of losing Bear and in the process earned his own special place in her heart.

I didn't realize Jiminy came from Fredonia Rescue. He had been at Best Friends a long time. I still can remember his sponsor photo. He was all ears.

It really is a wonderful story. I'm so happy that Jiminy sneaks in his blogs and keeps us updated on his activities.

Wow, dat is ME!

What a big Texas sized surprise fur me to see my story here. Momma teared up...oops, maybe I werent' supposed to say that. Oh well.

I did get rescued by Mr. Tom so many years ago, I don't really remember much bout that time, but apparently I made an impression on him cause I got saved. He even gave me the bestest name!

I love my momma so very much and I am a very good boy - she said so...a lot!
I knew the minute I saw her in front of Perry's Lodge in Kanab that she was my mom; it just took us a while to get together.

Thanks for everything and I still love you guys!

What does it mean when a mom's eyes suddenly become tear filled at the sight of her boy featured in a news item on a very special forum. Wow and thank you....as the tears stream down my face.

I spent 3 years loving Jiminy via the internet and now that he is here with me we do not waste a moment. I truly believe that Jiminy and I were meant to be together. Our lives took such different paths hundreds of miles apart, but came together with a little paw push from above.
I heard many people tell me to wait to get another dog after my Bear went to the Rainbow Bridge. My heart was shattered and I honestly did not believe I would be able to handle another fur kid for quiet some time, but the fates had other plans along with my boy at the bridge. Thank God I listened and paid attention; otherwise I would have missed out on the most loving, huggy, kissy face boy a grieving heart needed.

All my love and thanks to Tom for saving my boy from the streets so he could find his way to his mom's heart and home.

He's so cute, did he live at Conrad and Leopolds for a while? I remember walking a huge dog named Jiminy once when I volunteered there.

I love your blog, its such a great record of your daily life with this wonderful dog, I wish I were disciplined enough to have a blog for my pups.

Jiminy's story is one which can teach us much. As I understand it, he started with Fredonia Humane and there had been some allegation that he either bit or attempted to bite a child. Tom got him into the BF sanctuary where he lived for years. His caregivers loved him with hearts the size of Texas (yes, Texas) and even though he had many sponsors, he lived in Kanab for years.

Fast foward to July of 2007. Lisa has lost her beloved Bear at the age of 4 due to a myriad of health problems and something prompts her to check on the BF site where she runs across a picture she has seen many times before: Jiminy.

The rest is history in the making. When I see some of J Man's pics from years past he looks wistful and in a way, older. Now he acts like a pup, looks like a pup and is obviously a very happy boy.

It is no stretch of the truth to say that but for Tom, Jiminy would not be with us today. This is the power of commitment to saving lifes, the power of the incredible work done at the sanctuary and the power of the bond between a woman and her dog to help heal the broken heart.

And since I've met Jiminy in person and know this to be true, I'll tell the world: he's easy. I got to hug him and kiss on him on our first date!
