     Many folks obtain a ferret on impulse, this is not always the case but clearly folks who do not try to consider long term commitment are a huge contributor to the surge of ferrets sold from pet stores &amp; retailers who end up with no place to go!
    What happens when the ferret you brought home 6 weeks ago, 6 months ago or 2 years ago is no longer welcome?
     The problem is there are few places to go for ferrets. In general SPCA, humane and ARL shelters do not accept them in - or do and otherwise deal with them ( euthanasia) rather than to continue care and adopt out.
     That leaves many small rescues to pick up the pieces and try their best to care and seek homes for a largely mis understood companion animal.
