Kali is a 3 year old Shar Pei mix who came to us from Texas.  She was picked up there as a stray, and the shelter she was at was having financial difficulties, so we brought a few dogs here.  What a dolly this girl is!  She loves everybody!  Always has wags and kisses for everyone who comes to see her.  She can be Bossy with other dogs though.  She likes to play, but if they get to rough, or if they are a clumsy puppy like her runmate Baja, she will definitely tell them!  Aside from her adorably soft muzzle, Kali has another interesting quality about her...  she has double dew claws on both her back feet!  Pretty neat looking!  I don't know... maybe she has some Great Pyrenees in her!

Cute head tilt!  Does she have a bit of chow in her?  She kind of reminds me of my foster doggy.

She's got that "res-dog" look with those ears and white feet. Is she a local?

I heard from the lady (Cari) who helped rescue Kali (she was know as Casey then) from the shelter as she was on the PTS list.  A lady from North Carolina offered to pay her boarding so they could get her off the clock.  Cari tried really hard to get her adopted and it did happen, but she was bossy with another dog and the person who adopted freaked out and returned her.  That was when they contacted BF and Casey was on her way to Utah!  The lady from NC flew to Vegas and drove her up herself.  When Cari found out I was visiting BF this coming weekend (it somehow got posted on the Internet) she contacted me and asked me to check in on Casey.  After looking around I found her here!  I'll be in to visit the 15th or 16th to see her precious girl.

Here is a picture of her with a feather boa.  Cari wrote - "She's not really a frilly dog, but I was trying to help her stand out in adoption emails that went out (before Best Friends) since she is a girl with "star quality,"".

Thought you might like a little more background on her.

To see that my Shar Pei Mix Sweetheart is having a great time at Best Friends is such a thrill!

Kali is such a great girl and it makes me so happy to see her signature head tilt, her double dew claws and those fantastic forehead wrinkles again. So many people pulled together to get her to Best Friends, it was awe-inspiring.

When I drove her to the airport a few weeks ago her forehead was VERY wrinkly - she didn't know what was going on! She looked so relieved in the pictures of her trip to Best Friends (she got to take a walk in Zion National Park along the way and sleep in a hotel) and to seeing her look so happy makes me so happy. Although she may be a little opinionated with other dogs she is gentle and affectionate with people. I will miss visiting her in person but know she has hit the jackpot by finding a spot at Best Friends.

She is an absolutely beautiful, sweet dog, and I wish more was written about her progress there.  I hope someone sees what a wonderful girl she is and will give her the forever home she deserves.

Kali has actually moved away from the Fairway.  She just couldn't get settled into her run, or other runs we tried her in.  She would be much happier being the only dog.  I haven't updated her location yet because she's kind of in a holding pattern.  She's staying in our Admissions building until we can figure out a more permanent spot for her.  Kali is the SWEETEST girl on earth, but she has just been too aggressive with other dogs we've placed her with, so she may end up having to live by herself somewhere.  It's all up in the air at this point.

Well, I'm very sorry to hear that.  I hope she isn't too frightened, confused, or lonely.  It's bad enough being without a home of your own, but if she can't handle roommates, then you have to do what's best for all.   At least she's in a great place.  You do wonderful things with animals there, hopefully someone can help her with her issues.

Is there a way to get updates?

Kali seems to be doing fine.  I was there this past Sun-Mon and checked in on her.  I was asked to check in on her by the lady who led the effort to rescue her in Texas.  I got to see her in Admissions Sunday and walked her on Monday.  She really enjoyed the walked and smelling everything along the trail.  Here are a few pictures.

That's great - thanks so much for the update.  The pictures are adorable!  I especially love the middle one - she just looks like she has so much love to give.  You were very kind to check in on her and to take her for a walk.  And thanks again for the update.  Really appreciate it.
