It’s About Time
And the time is Meow or Never!
By Madonna Byrd, Founder/Director of It's Meow or NeverAt
It's Meow or Never Animal Rescue and Sanctuary,sixty-five percent of the funding for the care and feeding of our animals comes from crafts and handmade items.
We participate in craft fairs as often as possible, where we bring along a wide range of products. Some of our most popular handmade items are our
Kitty Kickers Catnip Toys,
Cuddle Sacks 4-Way Pet Beds (shown above), fleece dog tugs and our fragrant hand poured
soy candles. We have great success with businesses that have started carrying our products and we're now ready to support bulk order quantities. Our Kitty Kickers are our greatest success as we are always receiving e-mails saying they could not wait to get the package opened. The cats were going crazy for the catnip.
We have a few dedicated volunteers that produce our craft items on a completely volunteer basis. We love using the power of the Internet to help us meet new crafters and anyone who would like to produce craft items for our non-profit is welcome, regardless of their location. Kathy Colegrove of Dupont, Washington, is a wonderful volunteer along with her daughter, Layla Colegrove. They hand make our Kitty Kickers, dog tugs, soy candles, and Cuddle Sacks.

One of our newest items is our subscription-based dog biscuit club called
Bark All About It! Subscribers to our club can choose from a three, six, or 12-month subscription and their dog receives a bag of hand-decorated dog biscuits in the mail with a custom gift tag. We're having lots of success with our new club and it's become a wonderful way to send a gift to a doggy friend!
We encourage people to join our
message board to learn more about the items we're making and to find out about opportunities where they can participate in upcoming craft projects.
It's Meow or Never Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, no-kill animal sanctuary and rescue organization. We fund spay, neuter, testing and vaccinations; feed and provide shelter to homeless animals; adopt animals to loving, forever homes and provide helpful resources to animal enthusiasts and pet owners. Through our fundraising programs, we are working towards a goal of opening a larger adoption center, a spay and neuter clinic and a sanctuary to provide safe refuge for farm animals.
Our programs include but are not limited to an interactive forum for supporters and volunteers, lost and found pet listing services, fundraising programs, public spay and neuter education programs and animal advocacy work. Additionally, we partner with local high schools to provide volunteer opportunities for students. These opportunities allow them to satisfy their community service obligations and learn valuable life skills.
To date, our organization has successfully rescued, rehabilitated and adopted nearly 3,500 animals into loving, permanent homes.Photos courtesy of It’s Meow or Never
