Bullet's Story
Shot and left for dead by the side of the road, the basset hound now known as Bullet, was found bleeding from the neck and ear. With the love and attention from the staff at the Central Nebraska Humane Society, he would fully recover, and go on to be adopted. Bullet has now healed, and no longer trembles in fear. He is truly loved by his new family.

I feel that I am the best person I can be when I am with an animal. I want them to be safe, loved and well taken care of.

I had been a volunteer at my local Humane Society. I had been fostering and on the Board When five of us ladies who were disillusioned with the Society decided to do our own rescue. We wanted a no kill rescue and we started Rescued Paws. Saving animals is our passion.

In 2007 we lost our Australian Cattle Dog named Aussie, she was 17. We have always been animal people and knew we'd eventually be ready for another dog. That time came when we received a call from a friend who worked at a vet's office, a Cattle Dog puppy had been brought in with a broken leg, the puppy had been abandoned and an older lady found her and didn't think she would be able to care for her. The moment we saw her it was instant love, we welcomed Surrey into our home. 6 months later we decided to get a 2nd dog. Our search began through a variety of rescue groups. For we where looking for a playmate that would have enough energy to keep up with Surrey. Our search lead us to BARK VA and a dog named Sparky, he is a Blue Heeler mixed with some bully breed and had lived at BARK most of his life, many of the volunteers thought he'd live out his life there, he's a high energy dog and must have intimidated folks a bit but he's very sweet and gentle. Sparky and Surrey don't carry too much baggage in regards to their tough start in life, Sparky has some scars from an attack (missing part of his ear and tongue) but both are extremely good natured and active. They take agility classes, and are both actively pursuing their Therapy Dog certification and are member of Life's Journey's Therapy Dogs in VA. and participate in many of the dog events on the East coast. So how did this inspire us into getting involved with animal welfare? We'll it started by bring ing Surrey and Sparky into our home. They inspired us by their nature and eager to please attitude in spite of the abuse. All dogs deserve a forever home filled with love. Our hearts broke as we became awareness of the overpopulation problems, abuse and living conditions of dogs. Clearly change is needed. From that Bark Radio was born, and while we're still small we're helping other small and medium size rescues with funding programs, announcement of activities, adoption announcements and transport. Sparky is about 7 years old and Surrey is almost 2 years old,

A shelter pitbull named Kahlua, who waited a year for his new family, firmly established my love for this breed. Annika, still waiting for hers, is a source of inspiration for me to capture the essence, in photos, of what I love about her breed, and to show it to the public.
