De-claw Coupons!
What ever happened to de-knuckling surgery only being done as a "last resort" when euthanasia is pending, and that it is the obligation of the vet to provide "complete education", according to the AVMA, of what the surgery really entails to the client?
Actually, that's not the way it has ever been where I live here in the Midwest.
In my city, we have vets encouraging de-clawing, advertising it on their parking lot marquis, in the phone book under their services, in coupon booklets delivered to homes & cross-selling it in spay/neuter packages to kittens, so I wasn't surprised when I saw this clinic in Indiana, a neighboring state, issuing 20% off spay, neuter, or DE-CLAW surgeries:http://www.retailmenot.com/printable/category/Veterinarian

Does anyone else have vets advertising & encouraging de-clawing in their cities?
Another popular attitude of the vets in my city is to stay "neutral" about the unnecessary breaking, severing, and crippling of cat finger bones as this article details: http://www.psyeta. org/sa/sa13. 4/atwood_ harvey.pdf
