Check Out Our Happy Endings!
We’re excited to announce our new Happy Endings forum! The forum has been set up so that you can share your happy endings and read about others positive experiences resulting from the use of the Animal Help Resources and assistance of the Animal Help department staff.

To kick off the opening of the forum, here’s a happy ending we all can appreciate:

Katya finds a home!
Katya & Lucia photoed above

Katya, a beautiful & loving full figured gal has had many streaks of good & bad luck throughout her life. At age one, Katya was adopted by a loving couple and lived with them for four years. Sadly, both of her people passed away within a few months of each other. Their daughter, Jill found Katya a loving home with a woman named Lucia, and Katya managed to find love once again. Lucia suddenly passed away in February and Katya was once again homeless. Katya was very confused and was living outdoors while a neighbor provided her with food and water. This gentle girl needed a new loving home to call her own and fast!

Jill, the daughter of the couple who adopted Katya originally, contacted Best Friends to see if we could help. She pursued our suggestions for how to find a new home for Katya, and received many inquiries from people offering to adopt or foster Katya.

In Jill’s own words:

“...Troy Lea at BF's pointed to and opened doors I never knew existed. By creating flyers and posts, no fewer than two dozen requests for adoption or fostering came in! Troy is my personal heroine.

Out of these, three wonderful, caring, generous creature lovers "really" wanted Miss Katya. Lis, from LV, stepped in quickly not wanting Katya to remain in her situation for one more day.

Lis went to pick Katya up on Saturday morning. She found that she had been left with an opend 5lb. bag of food and water. When Lis went into the garage Katya cried out for the sheer pleasure of human contact.

Katya is now "home." Lis has other critters who, in her words, are quite benign and hardly notice the "new arrival." She and I have spoken at length and my heart is filled with joy knowing that Lis is so very patient. Lis has gone through her own loss recently and she feels that Katya is meant to be in her life. We also spoke about our being stewards of this earth and how reaching out to anyone or anything in need is paramount to the continuance of life as we know it.

For the past few days I have walked around in a daze wondering how this all happened. The only word I can come up with is MIRACLE. Plain and simply a true MIRACLE.

That you ALL cared is astounding to me. That you all felt for this little "big" girl is just brillant and something to behold.

FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, I AM OVERWHELMED AND I THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!”
