Boaz, AL dropped referrences to pit bulls in new ordinance
Your Action Prevented Breed Discrimination

To Alabama Residents
On March 02, we posted that the City of Boaz, Al was drafting a breed discriminatory ordinance that labels pit bull type dogs as “dangerous,” based solely on the way the dog looks without regard to dog’s actual behavior.
On Monday, March 22, the city council voted to reject that breed specific language and adopt a breed neutral dangerous dog law! Another victory for the pit bull terrier and it's canine cousins. You can read the news article in The Reporter for Sand Moutain here.
Fiscal Impact
Since the launch of Best Friends Fiscal Impact Calculator, we have been doing our best to keep track of the number of cities, states and counties that adopt, or reject breed discriminatory laws. Including the estimated number of Pit bull terrier type dogs in Boaz, we have all positively affected the lives of over 33,000 dogs.
Below is the contacty information for the Mayor and City council of Boaz. Please, thank them for doing the right path in helping Boaz become a safe and humane community.
