Alley Cat Guardians has several volunteer opportunities that need reliable and responsible volunteers. Donating as little as an hour of your time each month will make a difference in the lives of our community cats. You can be proud to be a part of a growing organization that has been protecting our feline friends since 2002. We'd love to have you on our team!

Clinic Receptionist - Return hotline calls, book spay/neuter appointments, check-out traps and carriers for clients with appointments. Computer experience required (Google docs, MS Office, email). As little as a 2 hour commitment each day you volunteer.

Spay/Neuter Clinic Volunteer - Pursue your dream of working in a veterinary clinic. Volunteers assist with client check-in, surgery prep, instrument sterilization and post-surgery recovery. Training provided to qualified candidates. Clinics currently run each Wednesday from 8am-12pm. Approximately 4-5 hour commitment per clinic.

Spay Day Prep Volunteer - Clean, pack and sterilize surgical instruments prior to clinic day surgeries. Ensure towels and general supplies are ready for clinic activities. Training provided to qualified candidates. 2-4 hour commitment required.

Spay/Neuter Clinic Cleaning - General cleaning duties (sweep, mop, dust, laundry). It's not glamorous, but it's got to get done! As little as 1 hour commitment each day you volunteer.

Trap/Neuter/Return Team - Spread the TNR message, teach TNR best practices at outreach events, train newcomers to TNR, assist with large trapping events or help individuals that are physically unable to trap. Training provided. Volunteer as needed and on your schedule.

Clinic Adoption Center Volunteer - Visit with our adoptable cats residing in the clinic's adoption center. Freshen their bedding, litter and room. Provide play time, cuddling and keep up with grooming. Approximately 1 hour commitment each day you volunteer.

PetSmart Kitty Cuddler and Cage Freshener - Provide companionship and care for ACG's adoptable cats during their stay at Petsmart. Freshen bedding, food and water, litter boxes. Approximately 1 hour commitment each day you volunteer.

PetSmart Adoption Center Set-Up/Exit - Deliver clean cage bedding and supplies to PetSmart Adoption Center at start of ACG's cage rotation. Launder dirty bedding as needed and at the end of ACG's cage rotation (ACG's washing machine can be used). Pick up bedding and supplies at the end of rotation and return to the clinic storage room. Volunteers needed at the Modesto Petsmart on McHenry, Sisk Road and the Manteca Petsmart. Approximately 4-6 hour commitment over each two week rotation (at most once a month).

PetSmart Adoption Event Coordinator - Responsible for the set-up and tear down of extra aisle cages at PetSmart adoption events. Coordinate foster cats going into aisle cages. Promote adoption events through media outlets, newsletter and email. Adoption events occur approximately 4 times a year (Friday set up, Sunday tear-down).

Foster Cat Transporter - Assist foster homes with the drop off and pick up of cats from PetSmart locations or veterinary appointments.

Foster Caregiver - Open your home to a stray cat in need. ACG provides all veterinary care. You provide food, litter, transportation and love. Training provided to qualified volunteers.

Adoption Counselor - Not able to bring another cat home but still want to help our adoptable cats? Adoption counselors screen potential adopters to ensure a suitable fit for cat and family. Meet adopters at Petsmart to complete adoption contract and collect adoption fee. Training provided to qualified candidates. Hours committed vary depending on the number of foster cats you are screening for (approximately 1 hour per adoption).

Looking for a new feline friend? Alley Cat Guardians has a cat or kitten to fit every type of family, like playful Rocky pictured here. All cats in our adoption program have been spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/Feline Leukemia and are current on vaccinations (3-in-1 and rabies). Adoption fees typically range from $50-$85 depending on the age of the cat.

Clinic Waiting List OPEN - Only $20 to Spay that Stray!

Alley Cat Guardians has now opened a waiting list for spay/neuter clinic appointments. Please call the hotline at 209-567-3570 and leave your name, day time phone number, and the number and gender (if known) of unowned feral/free-roaming cats you would like to book. Please leave a brief message and speak clearly and slowly. We expect heavy traffic on the hotline, so please allow some additional time for our volunteers to call you back

We are currently holding a 50 cat clinic each Wednesday. Your information will go on the waiting list and we will return calls in the order received as clinic dates are set. Please be patient - there are hundreds of people requesting appointments. Appointments are $20 per cat and include the spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination and mandatory ear tip.

We are looking forward to providing you with high-quality, affordable spay/neuter services for your neighborhood feral and free-roaming cats.

This little guy is an honorary Indiana Jones! Luigi loves to explore and observe his environment, as long as there is someone to cuddle him when he is done. The world is a very interesting place, and a lot of the best things are up high. However, he also enjoys it when you come down to his level, giving him a lap to sit in and a beloved face to gaze at. Luigi needs a home where he can get plenty of entertainment and affection, and he will definitely provide you with those in return!

Petite and delicate, Ella is a true little lady. Although she can have playful moments, she seems to have a very laid-back personality, compared to her foster-mates, even at this tender age. Ella will look straight at you with her beautiful green-blue eyes and melt your heart. This little sweetheart started life as a bottle feeder, and has been a true joy to foster. She will make a wonderful, loyal companion who loves attention and cuddles, and would do well in any home environment. Evangeline came to Alley Cat Guardians while still bottle feeding. Named from the scullery maid from the movie Nanny McPhee, who transforms into an elegant lady, this little girl is well on her way through the same transformation. She is growing a thick, fluffy coat and has very unique Ragdoll markings and beautiful blue eyes. Cuddling this little kitten is such a joy, and she loves every second of attention you can give her! Evangeline loves to perch up on your shoulder like a little bird, playing with your hair and rubbing up against your face! She is very social with her other foster “siblings” but is still a bit scared of dogs. Being just a kitten, she should adapt well to any home situation. Charm is a beautiful little girl who was removed from a feral colony when she was very young. At first she was very nervous and shy in her new environment, but with fostering has become a wonderful, playful and social kitten. She loves to bat her stuffed mouse around the house like she is playing hockey! Although she is not a pure breed, Charm has a Siamese appearance with blue point markings, and her legs are getting quite long, so she will grow into quite an elegant kitty. She is very social with her other foster “siblings” but is still very shy around dogs. Being just a kitten, she should adapt well to any home situation. We have a load of about 30 kittens in foster care right now, and we're getting them ready for adoption! Each kitten is loving, unique, and ready to be your companion! They are irresistible and full of personality, from the extroverted chatterbox that is Eddie to the hauntingly beautiful and petite Ella.

Why such sad, puppy dog eyes? My heart was broken when my family had to move and couldn’t take me along. Luckily, ACG took me back into foster care and now I’m looking for a family that will love and care for me for the rest of my life. I am a very sweet and gentle boy and you can see from my tummy that I’m quite good at lounging around. I enjoy getting brushed and doted on. Just a few gentle pets and I’ll curl up with you, nuzzling into your arms and giving you little kitty kisses on your neck. I’m a little timid with my world turned upside down right now, but I hope you will help me get back on my feet again. I still have a lifetime of friendship and love to share.
