After 10 Years, Virginia Dog, Brindle, Found In Oklahoma!!

An 8-year old from Oklahoma, has shown us how valuable microchipping and human kindness are in caring for our companion animals.

Tristan Rohde, an 8-year old from Oklahoma, has shown how valuable microchipping and human kindness are in caring for our companion animals.  Here is the story of an amazing rescue in her mother Amy's words:

"My 8 year old daughter Tristan was actually the one who found him, and was adamant that we take him in. Basically, I could either leave the dog and my daughter behind, or they could both come home. She's a very special little girl, and I am so proud of her for her convictions. She knew what had to be done right away, and she did it.

"At this time a week ago, Tristan was showing him where the water and food was in our house, and now, he's made national news. Simply amazing. The animal loving community in Virginia has really come through for him, and there will never be any way that I could ever express my full gratitude.

"After I found out he was microchipped, I searched for and found his owner, then started on the logistical task of how to transport an elderly, injured, large breed dog 1300 miles back home. He's such a sweet dog, and although I would have been totally fine if he had become a permanent member of our family, his owner missed him terribly. I emailed a few rescues, thinking that if anyone knew how to transport critters, it would be them. I guess they told a few people, who in turn told a few people, who in turn posted it on message boards and groups.... it's spread like wildfire.

"I do have a small favor to ask, regarding Tristan. She idolizes animal rescuers, and wants to run a dog and horse rescue when she grows up.

I've told her many times that she did a great thing for Brindle, but I'm just her mom, and therefore, she doesn't really believe me. It would mean a lot to her if someone -- a real live animal rescuer!--could write her a short note or something to tell her that she did well. Is that possible?"
