Not only do I have the opportunity to visit the Sanctuary during my visit to the USA next week, I am also completing a Rim To Rim Walk of the Grand Canyon to raise money for my local Cat Rescue organization.
Cat Rescue is located in Chippenahm, Wiltshire. Wiltshire's best claim to fame is being the site of Stonehenge. The town of Chippenham is believed to have existed as a settlement since before Roman times.
Cat Rescue is a small band of volunteers who foster and re-home abandoned cats and kittens. They normally raise funds by selling hand made cards and rely on food donations collected at local supermarkets and donated veterinary services. I have worked as a vet for this amazing group for 20 years, and it seemed only right to raise awareness of their dedication and provide some much needed funds by doing something BIG!
My husband Joe and I will be going 4,500 feet down into the Canyon, staying overnight at a ranch on the Canyon floor, and then climbing 6,000 feet up the other site the next day! It sounds like quite an adventure!
The local newspapers have generously covered the story and so I have raised over £700 in donations.
