It’s a story heard far too often, animals just dumped out in the country, and the Elgin, Texas region is no exception.
Fortunately, a local couple has been providing water and scraps to a group of discarded pooches. But a neighbor saw the poor condition of the dogs and contacted Blue Paws Rescue for help.
Ellette Vinyard of Blue Paws Rescue and Adele Noel of Dogs Deserve Better arrived to see the deserted dogs suffering from a variety of maladies. They spoke to the property owners, who were extremely grateful for any assistance.
Five of the dogs were selected and received treatment thanks to Elgin Veterinary Hospital and Balcones Animal Hospital. And their transformations are nothing short of miraculous.
When originally rescued, Princess looked to be well advanced in years (see image to the right). Now that she has recovered, she looks every bit the 6-month-old pup that she is (see top image). It's difficult to believe she is even the same dog. And the four others have recuperated in much the same way.
However, this effort has not been not without cost. Vinyard notes, “We still have a balance to pay off and more dogs to pull.”
You can make a difference in the lives of these dogs. Help support Blue Paws Rescue as they continue to remove and treat the remaining dogs from this property and find them loving homes.
