With repeated chants of “stop the gas,” a few dozen volunteers recently took to the streets in Garland to protest the city shelter’s continued use of carbon monoxide gas to euthanize animals.
Not everyone believes this new policy is a solution, so representatives from Garland Citizens for Reform of the Animal Shelter took to the streets this week in a protest at City Hall, calling for the cessation of the use of the gas chamber entirely.
Garland is the largest city in Texas that still utilizes carbon monoxide to euthanize animals.
