Are you listed here in this forum as the other shelter rescues?

Did you join Network Charities if you are elligible?

At your Petsmart adoptions have a Volunteer sign up sheet and also a sign asking for volunteers.

See if Petsmart will allow you to post a small sign on bulletin board with your volunteer needs?

Perhaps asking on Craigslist, although be cautious.

Are you on any other social networking sites you might have a cal for volunteers on?

Is there something you might be able to assist another shelter with and in turn they can share some of their volunteers?

Also ask each of the other shelters in this forum page how they go about obtaining worthy volunteers.

What about seniors?

Is there a Military base nearby or perhaps a college, or other type of education facility?

Will your DVM allow you to post your needs in the office?

Mainly just do not stop looking for volunteers as you will find them eventually.

It is all a matter or networking and communication.

Take care and good luck.

He has been with 11th Hour Rescue for over 2 years. He is currently at our shelter, but is occasionally fostered by a volunteer with 6 other dogs. If you want a buddy for your dogs, Smokey’s the best! You can see a video of Smokey at: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11162966

Smokey LOVES other dogs (he knows to be gentle with smaller ones) and is great with his foster parents, however he has “guarding issues”. Trying to “protect” his home and owners has lead to biting. He has NEVER gone after his fosterers and trusts them 100%. His caregiver can take food away from him; check his teeth, paws, mouth; give him a bath…pretty much handle him however they want. He is also crate-trained and housebroken.

Smokey is a “big puppy” who lives to play with and meet new dogs. Yard time is fun time for Smokey! His wariness about trusting people stems from low self-esteem and past abandonment. He does not show outwardly aggressive body language when nervous, which means that he would require a dog savvy home. Once Smokey bonds with you, he would never go after you – and he bonds quickly. His forever family would increase his confidence and trust as a “nervous aggression” dog. Someone who knows when company visits, he must be crated or put in another room to avoid the “guarding” behavior.

He is a great dog that deserves a chance at having a loving home, because he has so much love and loyalty to give to you!

Smokey is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations.

Please contact his fosterer tammy.probst.smith@gmail.com for more info.

Working together for South Dakota animals : The Dog Files Video - Sioux Falls

I noticed that The Dog Files has produced a series of great videos about dogs in the Heartland. It appears she has been dumped. She is currently being seperated from my dogs as it appears she may not get along well with other dogs, I am going to try and work with her, I do believe this could be changed with some behavioral help from an expert, but if not done I would suggest she is the only dog in the home. She is a young dog anywhere from 6 months to about 12 months, we took her to the vet yesterday and she is clean, got a dewormer but doesn't appear to have any parasites, she also got her rabies and first distemper shot, & will need another one in 3 weeks but will be up to date on shots after that. It is also possible that she might be spayed the vet wasnt sure she will have to be watched to see if she goes into heat or not. Although she seems more uncertain around animals and dogs she is excellent otherwise and is the biggest lovebug and snuggling lap dog you can find. Not food aggressive. She is the sweetest dog you can find. I can pretty much meet anyone interested in meeting/adopting her in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa and find a place to meet up. I would be keeping her myself but I really can't and have grown very attached to her so want the best home possible. I would also be willing to do a trial home for her. If you are interested or know of someone who is please email me and tell me about yourself at skateboarder_chic04@hotmail.com or you can email me on best friends account.
Thanks!
Olivia

Working together for South Dakota animals : Lost Spinone: "Lucia." I really want a chance to show kids the proper way to care for their pets. I really want to show people great options to have better lives with their pets.

There's just no reason for animals to be left out there to become victims of this kind of violence.

Thanks for your support in all things!
Jeni

Become a fan!
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spots-TV/60111089399

Join the group!
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spots-TV/60111089399#/group.php?gid=66654740449

Share some of your pet photos to!
_________________________________

Friends and Family,

You know by know that I feel very strongly that HB 1146 needs to pass. Tomorrow respected members of the ag industry in South Dakota will be testifying against this bill. I personally have argued for wording that exempts agricultural & hunting interests. One of the arguments of opposition to this bill comes from the thought that it is backed solely by the HSUS. It is not. It's also backed by people like me. Who live, work, and want to protect our families in South Dakota every day.

I want to see true, violent criminal offenders behind bars. Not farmers. Not hunters. Not fisherman. Please read my blog today to see some of the stories that make me so passionate about this bill.
http://shelteroftheheart.blogspot.com

Contact your representatives today. She was taken in approximately mid July '08 with one of her older puppies that was adopted within 1 month.
2. She was adopted in Sept. and returned by the owners son due to dog neglect in November.
3. Within the last 2 wks she has nipped (not bitten) 2 dogs.
4. Unfortunately, she is in a kennel at SCRC most of the time and she wants human attention.
5. I've walked her and interacted with her and she is a very sweet dog. My wife who has been scared of dogs and been with her is not scared of her. She says she is one of the most gentle, sweet dogs she has seen at SCRC.

I've been a volunteer for SCRC for 2 yrs walking and caring for the dogs. In the short time of volunteering, watching Best Friends and the Dog Whisper, I realize I have a gift for working with animals even while I do not have any dogs yet due to my home environment. If we could adopt her we would, however at this time we are unable too.

All the dogs especially Angel Eyes are excited to see me when I'm at SCRC as they know I am their friend and to help them.

The founder of SCRC is Rosie Quinn (605)362-1722 and I've included their web "URL" link, http://www.scrcsd.org/

Please help find a home for Angel Eyes.

Sincerely
lobofive@aol.com
