About Buddha
This very sweet, very overweight cat, estimated to be only 2 years old, was left at the Lehigh County Humane Society in July 2009 weighing 29 pounds and with no information about his background. How he got that heavy without his owners intervening, we will never know. Sadly, Buddha is also blind or almost blind. It is possible he has some very limited vision, but it is difficult to know for sure. The good news is that Buddha has now lost some weight and is down to 23.5 pounds as of August 25. He has also adapted extremely quickly to a change in foster homes. He finds his food and water without difficulty and uses his litterbox with excellent manners. He quickly learned how to go through a cat door to get to an enclosed front porch, and he enjoys spending some of his time there. He is living with several feline foster buddies and has no problems at all getting along with them.
Buddha loves attention and perks up as soon as he hears someone enter his room! Because of his vision problem, he seems to feel very lonely until he has someone petting him or talking to him. He would love to have an owner that is home often and has time to spend with him. His new owner will also need to be committed to controlling his diet and encouraging him to be more active so that he will get down to an acceptable, healthy weight.
Buddha is a sweetheart with special needs, but he will give his owner back far more than he takes.
He is FeLV/FIV negative, vaccinated and neutered. He is a very special fellow, anxiously waiting to find a very special home.
