My foster cat, Esme, was adopted this weekend. We first took Esme in during March; she came to us as a young mother with her 4 month old kitten and her two, two week old kittens. All the youngsters had been adopted, and Esme assimilated fairly well into our household. She is young though, and much more active and busy than our resident cats. And she is sort of a close talker; ignoring fairly obvious sign from her cat cohorts needing a bit more personal space.

In any case, as I visited with and got to know Esme's potential adoptor, iIwas reminded of the many different types of good cat owners there are. I am a "live and let live" sort of a gal. I'll tempt shy cats to overcome their fear, but am other wise mild mannered. I assume a calm demeanor is generally best with cats (as compared say to a 6 month old lab puppy).

Esme's adoptor is a vivacious, creative exuberant woman; in near constant motion. She was drawn to Esme's profile of being too busy to waste human interaction on lap sleeping. As this woman played and chattered to Esme, in a way I never would, I realized that Esme had found her human. I'm guessing Esme won't have time to eat house plants and knock knick knacks off shelves. She'll be kept busy with toys and play. And the shopping opportunity provided by this adoption will stimulate the economy right out of the recession. Cat scratching/cllimbing structure, pink toys, pearly studded color, new bowls etc.

I am thankful for all the different animal personalities we encounter and the often corresponding people personalities. I wish Esme and her person all teh best. Esme is probably glad to be out of our mellow house and I'll admit we're enjoying our new found peace just a bit .

Because he has previously been aggresive with humans as well as other dogs...he would be a good canidate for that situation. Thank you for the great idea!

I apologize as I have not been following asclosely as possible. Can you check with some assisted livings in the area? I work in assisted livings/nursing homes/dementia units all over the state of Oregon. Many of them have animals that are very into their "human" charges...and the humans benefit significantly from having an animal as a part of their "family." Many of the dementia units in Oregon have "cottages." Is the babyonethat could be a wonderful asset as an animal that takes care of "his people."....?

Another possible solution?

Are there any local schools that train seeing eye guide dogs, they might show some compassion?

Are you aware of the sanctuary that has blind animals?

Volunteer Coordinator Angela here with a 911 call. I will only post our most dire cases on this forum. Hippy has been at the shelter along time and can only be handled by a few people. He loves wholeheartedly with trust. Unfortunately, the compound from which he was rescued allowed Hippy to be attacked by packs of dogs. He is very submissive and loyal. Please help this special boy.
