If you live in Northwest Ohio, please feel free to attend Humane Ohio's Open House Celebration & Pet Food Drive on Saturday, October 17th from 11 am - 1 pm.  We just moved into a new, larger facility so we can go from spaying/neutering 8,700 animals a year to at least 14,000 annually!  Come and see our new non-profit spay/neuter clinic (3131 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo OH 43613) and celebrate the fact that we'll be making a bigger impact on pet overpopulation!  Please bring dog and cat food donations for the new Humane Ohio Pet Food Bank, a partnership between Humane Ohio, Feed Your Neighbor Ministry, Pet Supplies "Plus" and Petco!  Here are more details:

If you live in Northwest Ohio, please feel free to attend Humane Ohio's Open House Celebration & Pet Food Drive on Saturday, October 17th from 11 am - 1 pm.  We just moved into a new, larger facility so we can go from spaying/neutering 8,700 animals a year to at least 14,000 annually!  Come and see our new non-profit spay/neuter clinic and celebrate the fact that we'll be making a bigger impact on pet overpopulation!  Please bring dog and cat food donations for the new Humane Ohio Pet Food Bank, a partnership between Humane Ohio, Feed Your Neighbor Ministry, Pet Supplies "Plus" and Petco!  Here are more details:

The demand for low-cost spay/neuter in our region is great, especially in these tough economic times.  In order to meet the demand and help more animals and pet parents, Humane Ohio has moved its non-profit, low-cost spay/neuter clinic to a new, larger facility with enough room for a second veterinarian to work.  The addition of a second vet will allow the organization to go from spaying/neutering 8,700 animals a year to at least 14,000 annually!

“Our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation by offering access to high-quality, affordable spay/neuter and our larger facility and additional staff veterinarian play a major role in our ability to do that,” says Lisa Hochradel, Humane Ohio Clinic Director.  “By offering low-cost spay/neuter to any pet parent in need, and regularly offering free transports to and from our clinic from various locations throughout the city, we can help animals and people in need and make sure there’s less homeless animals on the streets and at our local shelters and rescue groups,” she continues.

Humane Ohio’s “Raise the Roof” campaign continues through 2011 with a goal of raising $270,000.  This amount will pay off the new building so the organization will not carry a mortgage and can help more people and pets, and it will cover all of the expenses associated with the building like moving and closing costs and building materials.  Slaske Building Company donated most of their time and labor.  People can support the “Raise the Roof” campaign by making a one-time or recurring monetary donation, sponsoring/naming a “Recovery Cubby” where the dogs and cats recuperate after their spay/neuter surgeries, donating an item(s) off of the “Raise the Roof” wish list, or creating their own fundraiser.  Naming opportunities at the new spay/neuter clinic are available for businesses and individuals

To celebrate the fact that they’ll be making a bigger impact on pet overpopulation, Humane Ohio will be hosting an Open House Celebration and Pet Food Drive on Saturday, October 17th from 11 am – 1 pm.  People in the community are invited to tour the new spay/neuter clinic, located at 3131 Tremainsville between Laskey and Alexis, where at least 14,000 animals a year will be fixed.  K100 will be broadcasting live, Max & Erma’s dog mascot “Scraps” will be on hand, there will be complimentary food/drinks, and every guest will receive a doggy bag full of goodies and a coupon for $5 off a spay/neuter or a free rabies shot at the time of the spay/neuter.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 am.

Guests are encouraged to bring dog and cat food donations for the new Humane Ohio Pet Food Bank.  The pet food bank is a partnership between Humane Ohio and Feed Your Neighbor Ministry, a program of Toledo Area Ministries, to make pet food available to pet parents in need.

To further celebrate the opening of their new spay/neuter clinic, Humane Ohio will be running a “digging for discounts” promotion the entire month of November.  Anyone who schedules a spay/neuter appointment for the month of November will be given the chance to “dig for a discount” on the day of their appointment.  The amount of the discount and type will vary, but every client will win.

Humane Ohio operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic to serve pet owners, feral/stray cat caretakers, animal shelters and rescue groups.  The non-profit organization can offer low-cost spay/neuter prices because private donations and grants help subsidize the true, higher cost of spay/neuter procedures.  Humane Ohio believes that all animals should receive the highest quality veterinary care possible.  Their clinic uses state of the art instruments and equipment, all spay/neuter surgeries are performed by qualified, licensed vets (DVMs) and every patient receives a brief physical exam and quality pain medication.  Humane Ohio spays/neuters at least 14,000 animals a year and runs a Pet Food Bank in partnership with Feed Your Neighbor Ministry, a program of the Toledo Area Ministries.
