These cats need homes!

I live in Fargo and have rescued many cats (46 since 2002). I currently have 12 of my own and 8 foster cats. I am moving for a new job and don't know exactly where I'll end up after a short training in SD. I desperately need help in finding homes for the cats pictured or as many as possible. It has been incredibly expensive to care for all of them which is what I've been doing for two years. They have been around my dog (an Australian shepherd mix) and all adore him. I would greatly appreciate any help and soon! I am only asking for a $25.00 adoption fee and all have been vaccinated, combo-tested and spayed/neutered. Some of the cats will need their rabies booster this year otherwise they are good to go.

Smokey is an active and healthy 6-years-young Chow/Shepherd/Rotti mix. He has been with 11th Hour Rescue for over 2 years. He is currently at our shelter, but is occasionally fostered by a volunteer with 6 other dogs. If you want a buddy for your dogs, Smokey’s the best! Smokey LOVES other dogs (he knows to be gentle with smaller ones) and is great with his foster parents, however he has “guarding issues”. Trying to “protect” his home and owners has lead to biting. He has NEVER gone after his fosterers and trusts them 100%. His caregiver can take food away from him; check his teeth, paws, mouth; give him a bath…pretty much handle him however they want. He is also crate-trained and housebroken.

Smokey is a “big puppy” who lives to play with and meet new dogs. Yard time is fun time for Smokey! His wariness about trusting people stems from low self-esteem and past abandonment. He does not show outwardly aggressive body language when nervous, which means that he would require a dog savvy home. Once Smokey bonds with you, he would never go after you – and he bonds quickly. His forever family would increase his confidence and trust as a “nervous aggression” dog. Someone who knows when company visits, he must be crated or put in another room to avoid the “guarding” behavior.

He is a great dog that deserves a chance at having a loving home, because he has so much love and loyalty to give to you!

Smokey is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- October 20, 2008 -- The Hartz Mountain Corporation, Secaucus, NJ is voluntarily recalling one specific lot of Hartz Chicken-Basted Rawhide Chips due to concerns that one or more bags within the lot are potentially contaminated with Salmonella. Hartz is fully cooperating with the US Food and Drug Administration in this voluntary recall.

Salmonella can cause serious infections in dogs, and, if there is cross-contamination caused by handling of the rawhide chips, in people as well, especially children, the aged, and people with compromised immune systems. Healthy people potentially infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. On rare occasions, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Animals can be carriers with no visible symptoms and can potentially infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

The product involved is 4,850 - 2 pound plastic bags of Hartz Chicken-Basted Rawhide Chips, lot code JC23282, UPC number 3270096463 which were distributed to a national retail customer. While the normal testing that Hartz conducts through an independent outside laboratory did not detect the presence of Salmonella in any Hartz rawhide products, sample testing conducted by another laboratory did indicate the presence of the bacteria in a sample bag of the Chicken-Basted Rawhide Chips. Hartz is aggressively investigating the difference in test results and the potential source of the problem.

Although Hartz has not received any reports of animals or humans becoming ill as a result of coming into contact with this product, Hartz is taking immediate steps to remove the product from all retail stores and distribution centers. Dog owners who purchased this product should check the lot code on their bag, and, if the code is not visible, or if the bag has lot code JC23282 imprinted thereon, they should immediately discontinue use of the product and discard it in a proper manner.

Consumers can contact Hartz at 1-800-275-1414 with any questions they may have and to obtain reimbursement for purchased product.

Hello, 4 Luv of Dog Rescue is looking for some special fosters for some special dogs. Our rescue takes in dogs from the pounds and cares for them until forever homes can be found. We have a few very loving dogs that have been waiting a long time for foster or forever homes. These dogs do not get along with cats and so it has been hard to find them fosters.
Matty is a dog who is soo loving with people but needs to be an only pet, so it has been very ahrd to find him a foster or forever home.

We are looking for foster or ideally adoptive homes especially for Matty, Rose, Georgia, & Charlie

Not sure if many of you know Kish in Fargo with 4 Luv of Dog Rescue but she is in need of assistance in trying to save a mama dog (Emily) and her five pups.

More information can be found here. The pull fee will be paid for these dogs and transport has been arranged in the past for other dogs that have been rescued if that makes helping out more desirable for anyone out there.

I know everyone is probably full to the gils with kittens and puppies, but I still thought I'd pass this on. Maybe you know of someone who is looking to be a foster or of someone who wants to save a dog? This is another one of those situations that we all know happen way too often unfortunately. Kish really does her best to help the many homeless animals in the Fargo-Moorhead area and has taken in dogs from outside that area as well. If anyone can help, I know she'd be so appreciative.

i think,and this is my honest opinion,that pets should be left at home,especially if it's hot outside!!!I work at the local supermarket in MINOT,and i can't begin to tell you how many cars i see in the parking lot with pets in them!!!Sure,they have a window rolled down,but that's not enough.It gets so hot in a car that the heat can cook your pets brain if left too long,please,do yor pet a favor this summer,leave them at home where it's cooler mytwocats

hi,i have a problem that i would like to share with you.I work at miracle mart on broadway.One of the local supermarkets here in MINOT,ND,we have a man,oh,i don't know how old,that comes in the store regulary with one of those walkers with wheels,well anyway,he brings his little dog with him ALL THE TIME!!!He was in the store yesterday afternoon with his dog as usual.But here's the thing that really bothers me!!!He ties this poor thing in the entry-way of the store!!!I don't really see any problem with this,but he does this when it's cold!!!Yesterday,it was VERY COLD!!!I have tried several times to tell this man not to take his little dog with him when it's cold!!!The porr thing gets cold,and he,or she,i don't know what it is,is cold!!!I have to you,i don't know if he's abusing this dog,i really think that he loves the dog,i'm concerend that the dog is going to get sick!!What should i do????mytwocats
