North on Coors to the Coors Bypass, connecting to Hwy 528. North on Hwy 528 to Northern Blvd. West on Northern to the city shelter.
Animal Control is open Monday-Saturday, 9-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. Closed Sunday and Holidays.

Adoption fee $89 city residents, $85 non-city residents. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, parvo/distemper vax, rabies vax, and city license if a Rio Rancho resident. If already neutered, adoption fee is $44 city residents, $40 non-city residents.
Animals with ID tags or microchip are held for 7 days to give owners time to reclaim. Animals without any ID are held for 5 days. If not claimed, they are available for adoption.
Animals may be reserved by interested party prior to adoption. Only one Reserve is accepted for each animal giving potential adopter first chance to adopt if not claimed by owner. If not adopted by 4:30 pm on date available, Reserve is removed, and animal is available for adoption on a first come, first serve basis the following day. Call the shelter to ensure the animal you are interested in is still available for adoption! Animals from this shelter will be updated on a weekly basis.
