About Rocky
Introducing Rocky, 83 pounds of affectionate, energetic Rottweiler.
Rocky is 3 years old and is currently living with one female and two male Rottweilers as well as a male black lab. He is not the alpha dog and is content with his place in the pack. Unfortunately he cannot live with small pets nor small dogs.
Rocky loves to go for car rides and keeps an eye on everything that passes by. He also loves to go for walks and will sniff the leashes hanging on the peg and look to see if you are watching him. He is a pleasure to walk as he stays very nicely in a heel position. When allowed to run loose in the woods, he always stays in sight and comes when called. Rocky doesn't play with any toys. He just doesn't seem to know what to do with them and isn't interested in learning. He will play rough with people though, and you have to stay alert so that he doesn't get carried away. He loves to watch television and will sit nicely by your side until The Dog Whisperer or Animal Planet comes on. Then he rushes right up to the screen and barks and lunges at the dog or whatever animal he sees. Have you ever tried to watch TV with a Rottie head blocking your view? He is learning that he can't run up to the screen and behaves himself 95% of the time. The 5% screen rush usually occurs when I am out of the room and he figures he can get away with it. However his total focus is his people. No matter where you are in the house, you will see Rocky watching you.
I suppose I now have to confess that he is a bit of a bratand must live with an experienced Rottweiler owner. Rocky will constantly test your authority and push to get what he wants. Sometimes he will show his distain for someone by lifting his leg to them. Not a nice thing to do, and we work very hard to prevent this from happening. One of his favorite activities is tipping over the wastebaskets. He loves to chew paper and also loves to chew on the bark from the logs by the fireplace. We have to keep them covered but, being the intelligent dog that he is, he knows enough to pull the cover to one side or push it out of the way so he can reach the chewy pieces of bark that he likes so much. You will have to look beyond that sweet, adoring face and stand firm against his demands.
This is a boy that has a heart of gold along with a little bit of mischief. In the right home, he will be a wonderful companion. Rocky is currently being fostered in southeastern Mass.
